Hi folks, the car's a little over a year old now, but I keep seeing this when I have the trunk open and it's bugging me. Anyone else have this issue and open a service req with Tesla on it? Any experiences to relate? Thanks,

Ian

Tesla will try to fix it over and over if you are under warranty still. If not they just use tape to hold them on.

I bought one that was removed from another car and think I installed it better than oem. I used the tape and ahession promoter below. Than I put black silicone around the top and corner edges to keep water out. Came out perfect. That tape is super strong.

Super common. Many repots of people having Tesla replace it over and over without ever seeing a permanent fix.

Here is one of many threads discussing issues.
Has Any P3D+ Owners Gotten Carbon Fiber Spoiler?

it took 4 times (4 different spoilers). before they (tesla) got a spoiler that actually fit and stayed on properly. My Model 3P is a nov 2018 one, so the car was not delivered with a spoiler, as they were not ready until much later.

its STILL not perfect (still has a gap and looks like an add on vs a factory installed part, because thats what it is on my car) but I tolerate it. The place where I got my chrome delete is fairly big name down in san diego, and they told me "tesla doesnt know how to put those on, just bring it to us and we will do it for you", but I didnt do that.

I didnt, because I was afraid it wouldnt fit, and I didnt want any trouble with tesla saying "well you took the spoiler without us installing it, so its on you now to make it fit" (which is what they would have said, and I wouldnt have been able to argue much.

TL ; DR, same thing that @cypho said. Very common, and hope you are still under warranty as they should fix it for you under warranty (either re tape it down, or install another one).

That happened to mine after just 6 months. Instead of wasting my time with Tesla (based on reading posts on this forum), I re-taped it myself. I used everything that P3dStealth linked. One of the corners was still not 100% flushed but I used the black silicone to fill-in the gap and it’s not that noticeable now. My spoiler is rock solid now. The hardest part was removing the old tape on the spoiler. That tape was really on there!
