Trunk Struts Weakening?

I have a 2018 M3 LR RWD. I’m noticing the trunk lid is not opening up all the way as before. Previously, you lift the lid and the struts would sort of raise the lid to the fully opened position. Now, if you don’t manually push the lid up all the way, you risk hitting your head on the partially opened lid.

Anyone else experience this? Kind of annoying. Are the struts worn out already?

I had this in my mid-2019 model. During one of the mobile service visits I asked the ranger about it. He sprayed a special lubricant (Kluberalfa brand). The trunk lifts all the way up again without having to push it.

The lubricant is expensive ($300 for a small bottle) so can’t really buy it for DYI use.
