Plastic Front Suspension?

Plastic has come a LONG way since 1970.

I'm sure that's what the people said who designed the BMW cooling systems, the BMW X3 transfer case, the BMW/VW/Audi timing chain guides, ...
I don't trust plastic! At least the upper control arms are easy to replace.

It is a single stamped steel component with a plastic inserted 'lattice' under the bottom. The front upper control arm is steel.

Exactly, I was thinking that when I first saw this a year ago - the plastic is there to stiffen the pressed steel - ironically they had to add a weight also (guess they found some kind of resonance).

That guy, Phil, probably knows more about the vehicle overall than any of the Tesla engineers who specialize in different systems. He pointed out the one design oversight that I'm aware of - the write cycle limit of a chip in the MCU. He does a rebuild on them and has many customers of older Teslas. The guy really knows his stuff.
