Just wondering. Now that it’s getting cold out how long will the cabin preheating stay on if the model 3 is not plugged in say at work with no plug available? Does it turn off after it reaches temperature or keep running until I enter the car or turn it off on the app?

It stays on continuously until the battery is less than 20% state of charge. After about 2 hours the phone app will send you a notification reminding you the climate control has been on for an extended period of time.
