Premium Connectivity not working without smartphone?

Received my Model Y last week and it displays that it comes with one year free Premium Connectivity. However, every time I'm in the car if I turn off my iPhone's wifi the radio stops working and there is no connection. I have to turn my iPhone's wifi on for it to work. Am I missing something here? Isn't Premium Connectivity suppose to be active regardless of my smartphone?

You are correct - something may be wrong. Does your vehicle show a good LTE signal?

it shows an LTE signal only when my iPhone's wifi is on. Once I turn it off the LTE single is off. I assume this means my car does not have the Premium Connectivity enabled.

What does it say about premium connectivity in the software section? Mine says something like "active until November 2022".

This is weird. If you tether through your iPhone it should have a wifi sign than LTE sign on the screen status bar.

Same. My does not expire until November 2022. I emailed an SA.
