thank you for quick response..I think I will go for the 20 inch wheels. The larger wheels while giving a slight handling edge lose in efficiency, harsher/stiffer ride, more costly tires and a MUCH greater chance of rim and tire sidewall damage. I opted for the smaller wheels.
And on a loaner S I had to buy an EXPENSIVE new tire after a run in with a parking lot pot hole. A major pain as NOONE had one locally and I had to order from tire rack. The “normal” S tires were in stock locally but of course would not fit on the larger rims.thank you for quick response..I think I will go for the 20 inch wheels.
20" ugly
22" sexy
Done.
View attachment 389825 You can buy the car with 20’s included and then buy new takeoff 22’s very reasonably if you search. I’ve seen some people asking a crazy price, around $5,000 but you can find them brand new as low as $2k-$2,500 with tires and sensors. I bought a perfect set for less than $1000 without tires. Then put new Goodyear’s on them and painted them Midnight Silver, which I think looks so much better than the factory satin black. We have a body shop so I even change our S 21’s and 19’s to Midnight Silver for the same reason. I think the proportions of the X make 20" wheels look too small, the bigger 22" front and deeper offset rear 22’s make the car.
The tires need to be a taller profile if 21" wheels are used. There are fewer options for 21" tires to maintain the correct height so the pricing of the ties is higher. I checked the options for that scenario and it was expensive. The X at the original Model X reveal had 21"s on it.21' maybe a good choice, will it be possible to use model s's 21 wheels on X ?

Yeah but availability of the right size 21’s are really expensive, 22’s make more sense because tires are more available and cheaper plus they visually fill the black wheel openings more. There are wheel size calculators online to figure the correct diameter if you want to whange sizes. Styling is subjective, to me it looks like some teenager bought some wheels off the internet.i know , thats why i have this idea.
check the photo, the proportion is way better than 20" or 22"
and the style is also better looking
