PSA: Check your license plate clips

anyone know the numerical reference to the size of license plate holder screws?

are they #14 x ¾”?

I used #10 screws.

They're pressure fit, using the screw to press outward on the inserts. If you don't screw them in enough, then they're not secured.

wanted to also mention that I had one of those clear bubble-type license plate covers over the temp tag. That might explain why it wasn't cranked down because it will crack the plastic cover. If they actually expand like a drywall anchor then this makes total sense. Hopefully the new clips are more permanent as I really like using alicense plate cover.
