When I installed Xpel rocker PPF on my rear doors ~5 months ago, I covered a similar area, and have experienced zero chips from debris thrown from the front wheels. This is a sound investment at a good price (Xpel rocker PPF only comes in a $100+ roll, and doesn't cover as high on the door).

Question for those familiar with PPF. I use The Last Coat v2 on the car, should I refresh it before applying the PPF or should I remove it?

That's a great way to cover up short comings. Charge your customers more money to do protect something that shouldn't be an issue in the first place.
