Rear Window Tint refracting light, is this expected?

Just had 40% tint put on the read window and now headlights refract at night creating a vertical pattern like attached. Anyone else with rear tint have this or not have this? Is there a way to resolve (tinting only between defrosters)?

yes that's normal when you tint rear windows. the film sits on top of defroster lines, so there is a gap between the glass and the film that causes that. it is particularly bad for the first week after tinting while the film is still drying. after it's dry, there is still a small amount of refracting but not much. and by then your eyes will have adjusted to seeing those lines and it won't be so distracting.
