Good news for me... I checked the "reprint registration" on the CT DMV and it's showing my Tesla now (checking every 2 days). I think it's in the mail now... my temp tag expires on 7/19 so just in time!

I did not want to drive to NJ from NH for delivery but Tesla is providing a rental car so that makes it a bit better. Also you cannot use Tesla financing if you have delivery as it considers them "selling" in a state they are not allowed to do direct sales. Additionally with pickup in NJ, they will provide NJ temp plates so you don't need to deal with the registration issues.

No, they delivered it to my house in Maine on a car carrier truck. Problem was that MA doesn't issue temporary plates, and so it came with out plates and without the paperwork to register it in Maine. I didn't get the registration paperwork for 15 days. I wasn't told about the NJ option until after I started complaining about having the car sitting in my garage with no place to go. You should be getting the paperwork any day now. How did the pick-up in NJ go? I assume you didn't reject it if you are waiting for paperwork.

Hey there BillyDMaine, I tossed in my order for MY on 7/13/20 and awaiting VIN assignment. My Tesla Specialist Associate works out of the Boston Prudential office and I've already had to correct him a few times because he keeps forgetting I live and am ordering from ME. So, I'm essentially tring to get my ducks in a row from all you guys.

Based on your experience, what do you recommend? Should I verify that the car that's being delivered to my driveway is coming from NJ, not MA? Should I reject it from the get-go if my specialist says "It's coming to MA first, then it's going to you" - seeing as it's unlikely to have the registration packet in it?

Our household is already down to a 1-car situation (I sold my car already) and the moment the car arrives, I'd hate to wait another 10-14 days to finally get to use it. Any insight would be much appreciate it!

When do you select the delivery to Maine? I placed the order and it stated they don't deliver to Maine yet. I really don't want to go to NJ to pick up the vehicle. Thanks!!

It was a long time ago, but I think I talked with my Tesla delivery person and simply insisted that they deliver it to me in Maine. The bad part of that was that MA won't issue temporary tags and so I had to wait two weeks to get the Tesla paperwork to register it in Maine. My understanding is that NJ will issue temporary tags, so you can actually drive the car until you get the paperwork to register it in Maine.
