Safest way to remove paint transfer

Well, it’s day 2 and like an idiot I brushed up against the garage door frame... transferred some paint.

My question is what is the best and safest way too get rid of this pain transfer without damaging my own paint. I watched a couple videos on YouTube suggesting WD-40 and Mr. clean dry magic eraser which has some little abrasion, but it makes me a little queasy.

Can I get some recommendations?

Thank you

I would start with less abrasive things and get more abrasive only if needed. That looks pretty bad, I might try to polish it off by hand first, to see how bad it is then a random orbital to finish.

They sell all these at my local wallmart.

I have also had good luck with this stuff, https://www.amazon.com/Adams-Revive...=1543450717&sr=8-3&keywords=hand+polish+adams

You may surprise yourself at how much better it'll look after cleaning off the transferred paint. For that, WD-40 + Magic Eraser indeed does the job beautifully. Even with some degree of pressure applied, the combination is easy on the clear coat. If however the clear coat was fully compromised (penetrated into the paint layer) then you'll want to be very careful.

From the looks of it, it doesn't look that bad. Should all come off no problem. There will likely be some minor clear coat scuff and should buff off using the buffing compounds (mentioned above) with an orbital buffer. Unfortunately you'll most likely end up with a slight dent along the joggled edge of the panel. Dents in that area is very expensive to address, if not impossible. Let's hope it's not that bad and you won't really notice it.

Finally be sure to wash and rinse the area before treatment. Any dirt and loose particle can easily translate to swirls marks.

Good luck!
