Seattle Installs EV Chargers on Utility Poles for City Residents Without Home Chargers

"Seattle City Light will pay for all costs related to the purchase and installation of the chargers. There is no cost to the resident or property owner to request or install a public curbside Level 2 EV charger.

"Drivers will need to pay a per kilowatt-hour (kWh) fee to use the chargers. The 2021 fee for Seattle City Light-operated Level 2 EV chargers is $0.20 per kWh"

A city in MA did something similar last year:

The city is the first on the East Coast —the only place outside of Los Angeles, in fact — to have pole-mounted electric vehicle chargers.

Haven't heard much since, which I guess is a good thing. They look like they are being used on plugshare as well.

I saw one like that at a park by falls in Rumford, ME There was a Leaf charging. I was going to plug in our Kona briefly into the other one, but I couldn't get the plug to come out.

It's good to see. Existing urban furniture makes it cheaper to install.
