I was surprised on how seeing how much interest my previous post on my Model 3 "keyfob" got. And going with that a lot of requests on folks could get this setup for themselves.

For that, I finally got around to publishing step by step directions on they could how to get this - check it out - Setting up your own Model 3 “keyfob” – using a IoT Button. Sorry it is long, as it has all the steps, assuming somone has nothing setup.

Might be best to leave comments on the blog post. I think I have everything in there, but would be good for some folks to try it out and let me know.

And whilst this is centered around Model 3, it should work with all the cars. And I haven't tested some edge cases (e.g. multiple cars on the same account).

There isn't any correlation between this and driving the car. If you have your paired phone with you then sure. I personally have the key card in the wallet as a backup. Phones fail and crap happens.

Curious what the purpose of this is then. Unlocking only when everything is in range of Wi-Fi?
