Hi team! We are interested in installing Powerwalls with our 15.1kW Tesla solar system. However, we are getting conflicting information regarding the SGIP rebate and are hoping to gain some wisdom from people who have gone through this process. Tesla mentions that we would receive the SGIP rebate on up to 2 Powerwalls, but Semper Solaris and other installers mention that we would not receive any SGIP funds unless we install 3 or more Powerwalls.

May we please have some help to clarify what the incentives apply to current installations of 2 or 4 batteries at our home? The attached table shows the cost assuming Tesla's information is correct. Thank so much in advance!

Someone at tesla is telling you that you will receive SGIP for 2 powerwalls? That level is oversubscribed still for tesla, so it aint happening through them.... so whoever you talked to is either very wrong, or someone with inside knowledge that is somehow going to skip you past 100s of tesla people who installed up to a year ago waiting for SGIP rebates.

Thanks for the perspective. Is the large scale incentive for 3+ units permissible for a residential customer with Tesla as an installer?

Tesla is probably over subscribed for that size as well, but you could check. third parties almost assuredly have some availability on 3 or more powerwalls, depending on the vendor of course.. they also tend to price more than tesla so there is that, as well.

You need to check with tesla to see if they have SGIP for 3 or more left.. Even if they do, it does not come "off the top" so you would be paying the full price then waiting for the rebate (also same for third parties, but a lot of them tend to quote net price after all rebates... make sure you pay attention to what you will write the check for , and then how rebates apply if any,
