I was at the Tesla store yesterday browsing and ended up working with someone to check the model X vehicles they had in inventory that might have a discount on them that might be close to the configuration I was looking for and they mentioned something that I hadn't heard of anywhere. He mentioned that they could discount an inventory X100D by software locking the "Extended Range" option currently that you are allowed to select in the main ordering page. Has anyone heard about doing this? Seems like being able to pull $8k off the price of an inventory X would make a lot of the EVCPO options a lot more attractive.

I wonder if they can do that to the 2018 cars? 2017?
I thought that corporate had to flip the unlock switch, but it makes sense for local offices to have a process to request the reverse. Corporate might even make local locking possible but require corporate to
unlock.
