pulled off the freeway to watch the luanch & parked in front if a BMW dealership, a couple salesmen walked over & i showed rhem the car then we huddled around my phone to watch the blast off.

That's priceless.

I am really sad, I had something critical come up at work just before the launch was supposed to happen so I missed the livestream

Yeah, saw that. The rocket ended up covered in muck as it took off (clearly visible a few frames later).

Is SpaceX still going to try for the soft water landing? I understand the recovery ship can't be in the area, but that wouldn't prevent them from trying out those systems.

I'm hoping he means last known thus far and they don't have all their data sources in yet. I was certainly hoping they'd be tracking it right up to and past splashdown.

Just got back to Kissimmee from Titusville... met up with another Tesla owner and watched the launch from the bridge to Parrish Park. It was the first time I saw a launch from Cape Canaveral so it was awesome. Unfortunately the wind was strong and we could barely hear the rocket itself.
