Blog Tesla Releases Parts Catalog for All Models

Tesla hasn’t made it easy on the shade tree mechanic to perform simple maintenance on their car, but it seems that may be changing.

The automaker just released a parts catalog with all parts for all of its cars – from first-gen Roadster to Model 3. The release also includes thorough documentation, such as detailed drawings of parts to help the general public make repairs on their own. In the past Tesla has required owners to check their car into a service center for approved work.

The move is being propelled by “Right to Repair” laws, which essentially forces manufacturers to offer replacement parts and service manuals for individuals to do their own wrenching.

While Tesla isn’t yet making it easy to order parts directly from the catalog, it seems they’re at least taking a step in that direction.
