This is proper 1970's British leyland level "adjustment" but you are right this goes on in ALL car plants to a degree. Well all except Tesla they just deliver them in the before state and do this in the service centre if you make a fuss. Google " car door alignment tool" and see what comes back its not a precision instrument and I bet every service centre has one!
