Tire size question. (aka beating a dead horse)

So I ordered 19"x9.5" replika 241s. I'm thinking 255 45 19s. Hoping the extra width can help protect the rims from my love of curbs.

Anybody have any ideas if this would be the way to go or am I a dingus.

If you want more tire to protect the rims you would I think be. Enter off with the narrower 8.5. That is what I am getting for my stock 255/45/19 tires that came on my Gemini wheels.
