Elon starting to reek of desperation...
Elon Musk on Twitter

Bears have been wondering why Tesla has been doing the ddealership--lite model and giving away perks like these...

Starting to look like Tesla might have a demand problem. Why are they giving this away while they still have a backlog of 420k+ orders?

Tesla is taking away free supercharging on S X and 3P. That is an effective price increase of ~$2k .

They raised the price of AWD on 3 by $1k.

They raised the price of metallic and pearl white paint by $500 and red pearl by $1000.

You don't do that if you have a demand problem.

Surprised there's nothing on this yet - Fire contained at Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada | Reuters - any thoughts on tomorrow's market action? The optimist in me thinks it could be shrugged off by the momentum from the end of last week, but I suspect by now I should know better...
From the article:
"The Storey County Emergency Management department said the county’s fire department responded to a reported fire at the factory on Saturday at about 10:12 p.m. PDT (0512 GMT) and the fire was suppressed by the sprinkler system and with the help of fire personnel.
The scene of the fire was turned back over to Tesla for cleanup and repairs at about 2:00 a.m. PDT. on Sunday, the department’s director, Joe Curtis, said in a statement.
A Tesla spokesperson said employees had been evacuated as a precautionary measure, but there were no injuries and production began again on Sunday morning.
The fire was in the cooling tube coating oven on the third floor of the factory, and it was quickly contained, the spokesperson said in a statement, adding the cause was under investigation.
"

...and then Paid Media Source (PMS) plays into the FUD which has absolutely no relevance to the article, not related to the story, but FUD occurs either in the first or last paragraph of every article now written. Really?. Shame on them:
"Saturday’s fire was the latest fire at a Tesla factory. There was a minor fire last month on the grounds of the Tesla factory in California...
The company has been trying to iron out production bumps after struggling to produce Model 3’s and failing to meet several production deadlines.
"

This is a non issue, and should not impact share price or progress whatsoever.
It's going to be a great week.
I can feel it.

Best case scenario $444 by November 2018
Worst case scenario low to mid $300s
It all depends on how fast we move up this coming week
Shorts seem to be losing the grip on price action and I strongly suspect bulls ready to seize control
i’m not firmly optimistoc about the price range you mentioned yet. but i do agree that the recent price action seems to be tilting the scales towards bullish. we just need solid execution and no sideshow for a about 6 months and we’ll be looking pretty good. i just want tesla and elon to handle everything that they can control, and not worry about what they cannot control.

@ASRI11 I have to ask how you could rate that post as informative? It was a joke. Maybe sarcasm doesn't translate well You don't think I was accusing a member here of being some sort of pervert do you? Especially since he recognized it as a joke in rating it as funny.
Ordinarily I accept a rating for what it is, but in this particular case, I suppose I need to be clear.

I can't believe you guys respond to the stupidity of some posters. I'm not sure why some people don't get that Tesla's entire business model depends on word of mouth advertising. From the beginning, Tesla has relied upon people loving their Tesla so much that they would tell other people about it. And that has worked. But just like McDonald's has never stopped advertising, Tesla is not stupid - there's still a TON more people than 420,000 that have no clue about Tesla. Of course you want to continue the trend of growing demand via word of mouth. Plus, EM has always simply liked to reward loyal owners who help the company. So why stop now? I'm sure something else will take its place. Else, this is the same as everything else with Tesla such as the supercharger charger build-out - they're in cost saving mode and hell bent on making a profit this quarter and next - though I totally don't like it - why slow down when you're leaving your competitors behind? This profit thing is just letting them catch up a little.

The free-Supercharging-for-life elimination means Supercharging will be a new revenue stream for Tesla. The specialist in the Stanford store told me today that the $100 free charging coupon is good for about 4-5 charges. I didn’t know it’s that expensive!

I use the Supercharger average 2-3 times a week on my Model X. That’s easily a $250 value per month. I’m appreciating the free-Supercharging-for-life grandfathered in even more!

I have never supercharged and it cost me more than $9. How does the $250/week value even compute

Supercharging cost differs by state, but in california its about $0.26/kWh.

Assuming you add a full 80kW three times a week, that is 80 * 0.26 * 3 * 4 per month = $249/month.

Of course it would be smarter to get EV-A plan and charge for $0.13/kWh at home over night and not have to worry about going to SC like a gas station. Especially if your home has solar and a net-metering plan and so your cost per kWh is closer to $0.00

More interestingly what will be the market reaction to the midterm ? We have a couple of scenarios to consider.

As polls suggest - Ds take the House, Rs keep the Senate.
Ds do better - Ds take both the House and Senate.
Rs do better - Rs keep both the House and Senate.

My guess is the first scenario is built in. The second will make the market go down for a while and the third will make it go up for a while. In a couple of months fundamentals will take over.

Supercharging rate varies by location. He charges ~10 times a month, for a Model X that could easily reach $200 per month. So for those who charge a lot or plan to travel a lot after autonomous driving is enabled, it makes sense to take the lifetime free charging deal.

Confused, second would mean we get all this garbage fixed like undoing pulling out of kyoto treaty, undoing dismantling of the EPA, kick back out the oil politicians etc. Stock market should rally?

I suppose your sense of humor is even more bizarre or outrageous than mine. Knowing it was a joke i can see the humor in it but if I didn't comment, I think others might have taken your "info" rating as evidence that pedo guy was one of us. There are limits to what one can get away with online before offending someone or being misunderstood. Just ask Elon.
