Vandenberg launch viewing recommendations

Reviving this thread. I'm planning to fly up (private) from San Diego for the launch currently planned for the 25th. I have seen one other launch from the air, which was good because the ground was fogged in. But this launch is in the afternoon. Land at Lompoc, and then?

@ggr FYI the launch on the 25th was moved to Florida. No launch out of Vandy this summer.

Per SFN, there are two launches at Vandy in the Fall: one Delta IV Heavy and one Falcon 9.

The timing says it may be a spectacular launch. It would be hard to beat Iridium NEXT 4th launch (12/23/17) though.

Might be a bit late for sunset light to reflect off it. We shall see! Anyone going tonight? Post pics! Report back on good viewing spots!

Ocean and Renwick seems to be the spot, especially when going for the first time. Need to get there early though.
I think for a second launch (once you've had the close by experience) I would go for one of the positions where see the top of it on the pad.

I remember reading how people were parking all over the place and not respecting private property. Sure hope it's not that crazy next week.
