If Scourie CCS is down, will Type 2 suffice? Considering hiring a Model 3 for Fort-William - Lock Assynt trip

All excellent information, thank you all! There‘s nothing like local knowledge! If any of you come to Canada or the US, I can return the favour.

If Scourie CCS is down, will Type 2 suffice? Considering hiring a Model 3 for Fort-William - Lock Assynt trip

Excellent info! ABRP thinks the entire drive is doable on a single charge. But I will not take that chance, especially as we are staying two nights near Assynt. I will look into granny-charging.

If Scourie CCS is down, will Type 2 suffice? Considering hiring a Model 3 for Fort-William - Lock Assynt trip

Hello friends from across the pond! Am based in the US and am not familiar with the charging options that might be available to me if I go ahead and hire a Model 3. Or what the car comes with, which I would hope is a full mobile charging kit. This will be second week of August. The plan would...

SF to San Diego: will HOV and Express access save or fail me?

SF to San Diego: will HOV and Express access save or fail me?

Am driving solo from San Francisco to San Diego next week. ABRP calculates 8h33m. The big question is: will my 2018 purple NorCal HOV sticker plus switchable Flex set to 3 allow me to avoid some traffic delays in L.A., Orange, San Diego? I’ve been researching this and cannot make any sense of...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Don't get me wrong: money talks and I like that after-hours bump. I just feel like the hard engineering is mostly solved by now, and Tesla could be run by more of an operations person, and Elon would be free to pursue his political views away from the company. I'll move along, thanks for listening.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Speaking of lawsuits... could TSLA investors have a case against Elon? He feels like more a risk to the company now than an asset. I may be exaggerating a bit, but still curious as to what shareholders can/should do.

    BMS_a035 error

Yup, I just got the same fix for the same error. In my case, the BMS_a035 error popped up as we were rolling away from a 250kw SC session (20->94%). Called roadside, they said they should tow the car to the nearest Service Center. As we were on a road trip hundreds of miles from home with...

    SpaceX F9 - DART - SLC-4E

Seeing this in-person blew my mind. That condensation cloud going across the frame is from one’s agape mouth that is entirely unable to produce a sound in reaction to the event that is unfolding… This was an amazing full-body experience, I wish it on everyone here!

    SpaceX F9 - DART - SLC-4E

Got there at T-3 hours. Already a few cars. There is a light marine layer, hopefully not enough to obscure the view. The sound should not have a problem with that.

Science implications of Starship (and Starlink) in space and on Earth

This is another great, long piece by Casey, but well worth the read. We already knew that launch costs was not the major line item in a science mission (see James Webb, going on $9bn). What I failed to realize fully until now is how the removal of size, mass and launch cadence constraints that...

Details about Netflix Inspiration 4 series

I tend to agree that no matter how much spin and donation tie-ins you add, this is still just about rich people (and select guests) going to space/depth of the oceans/Everest/<insert location access money can buy> because they can. Nothing wrong with that, happens all the time.

New Charity Bet: Date of first time Starship reaches orbit.

Losing a Starship is almost secondary at this point, it's "only" 6 engines. Losing the 29 on SH is the big deal imho. I assume BN5 and SN21 are not far behind, but the real currency right now are engines.
