A recent update to Watch App for Tesla has been declined by Apple because it uses a third-party API.

There are ways around that. A developer owned/authorised proxy api is one such way and tbh, not a bad solution as it can be smarter than calling the Tesla api direct (such as idle/sleep detection) and allow Api changes without involving the app. TeslaFi have a similar proxy available for their users.
