Weird trade in situation with lien release

Hello,
Tesla told me that they can't accept my Lien release letter because it has 2 names on it and title has one name on it. The name on title is correct and that name is also one of the names on the lien release letter. One option im trying is to get an udpated lien release letter with just the same name as title but i dont think it will come on time for delivery date.
Does this sound right with what Tesla is doing?
Any other options i can do? This is a NY registered car btw.

Can you take the lien release to the DMV and get a duplicate title with no lien listed? Not from NY so I'm assuming it's like MD where you get a title with a lien listed.

If your able to do that you take a clean title to Tesla to trade in.
