For those that understand car design economics a refresh does not alter the basic unibody/frame underpinnings as that would require recertification of the entire car. Tesla would like not do this for the Model S, especially given the relatively few plaids they would sell. as far as the car being wider they may fit wider fenders but mount points the same, aside from the fact that all the photos showing it as wider have not begun to convince me that it actually is (WAY too subtle a difference in the pics ive seen)
