Currently Tesla plans to install a Powerwall+, one additional Powerwall 2, and maybe a Backup Gateway (if not the meter socket backup switch). Not sure if I'm forgetting anything, but would I have any reason to run more than 1 cat6 cable for connectivity?

I realize WiFi is an option, but if I can set things up so that everything is hardwired I'd rather do that.

Looking at various PDF files it's hard to tell how many cables would make sense (it seems almost everything has an RJ45 port, but maybe some aren't active, and others are just there for flexibility). I just want to make available however many cables would actually get used.

Thats actually a good question. In my own setup, only the tesla gateway has ethernet (gateway 1), but I dont have a Powerwall+ nor teslas inverter, my install pre dates both.

Personally, if I was in your situation I would likely only run one cat 6 cable as long as I had access to power and knew I could put a 4 port switch on that cable if needed. I would likely do that instead of home running 2 cables unless I knew for a fact it needed two cables, and I dont know that.
