Why is it impossible to do 100.000 km with the Roadster?

The answer is very simple. The software-specialist at tesla are using a very sophisticated rounding routine to do the calculation from miles to km.

Yesterday, when i passed the 100.000km, the display jumped direct from 99.999km to 100.001, missing the value between.

Hopefully they don't use this kind of software for the rockets to bring them into orbit, they have to miss the spacelab.

LOL :)

Interesting. Internally they store (or at least broadcast) the odometer in 1/10th of a mile (even in metric cars). The conversion is very rough (integer maths only) and different in different places in the roadster. We had a hell of a job getting OVMS to show the same value as the roadster vds and speedometer displays, particularly for ideal and estimated miles - having to tune our algorithm to match theirs.

You can see the affect of this with your trip counter on a metric car. It normally goes up 0.1km at a time, but will occasionally jump 0.2km. I used to think this is speed related, but have seen it at crawl speeds.

P.S. Congratulations on the 100k!

Ditto here :)

I already noticed it in the Roadster.

From what I've seen (Diagnostic screenshots from the Model S (not public anymore)) the Model S uses Metric for everything, it even uses Celsius and 24hr time!

So I think this problem will be solved with Model S.

My standard range depends on the current i use for charging. 10A goes up to 281km, 32A and higher may stop at 264km or even less. i may depends on the balancing of the cells.
the range mode may present better values but i try to avoid this mode to do a full charge. But i think i could still achieve 350km.

My Roadster started when I first got it on the road in standard range 304 km, by the time I got the first service ( 20,000 km ) it went up even to 311 km and full charge was on 398 km.
In about one week time it dropt to 277 km, this after the first service and a software update. I called the Tesla service and told them that I almost lost 10% of the charge, they tested the battery.
Nothing wrong with the battery they told me, the software is now calculating differend and it will come back up a little but not for 100% because of this new software.
At 30,000 km it went down to 270 km in standard range, they did again a battery test and again with the comment battery is oké.
I charged always with 32 amps and ones a week in the Range mode.
Then I started to charge in 10 and 13 amp only and no more in range mode, only in the standard mode.
Now I am just over 50,000 km and have now 298 km it went slowly back up again, in full charge it is now up to 377 km.
I think it had or has all to do with balancing of the battery.
