At the very least the signal indicators should have been at least 3x their current size. I don’t know what the hell they were thinking designing a tail light with one of the smallest signal indicators I’ve ever seen on a car.
Don’t know why it’s such a big deal. Suddenly bright lights equals braking. Flashing light on one side indicates an upcoming turn. Why does color even matter.
TL;DR: Amber taillights look terrible. The US has the third stop light that European countries do not, which mitigates the issue.
I know. I meant the lenses. You can still have clear while having amber turn signals.
If the driver behind them is an idiot - sure. Most vehicles today have the 3rd brake light and that would avoid the signal confusion. The issue with the red for both brake and turn is that if one taillight isn't working and the driver is "tapping" the brakes... it looks like a turn signal is on.
Amen. It's an interesting video, but to me there is still no "ambiguity" as he says. When I see a flashing rear indicator on one side of the car, I know it is a turn signal regardless of what color it is. I guess I am missing something, but 50 years of driving, it never occurred to me even one time that this is an issue.
Ok, and I guess that driver would also have to be tapping that brake many times at a regular frequency to confuse me to think it is a signal light instead of a brake light. That process along with his one missing brake light sounds about as rare as a meteor hitting my house. Well, maybe not that rare, but any flashing rear light is still going to get my attention to see what they are doing. I'm still not buying that this is an issue for me if I'm behind them. Sort of sounds like something minor for people to argue about Just my one person opinion. The issue with the red for both brake and turn is that if one taillight isn't working and the driver is "tapping" the brakes... it looks like a turn signal is on.
Oh, so that was you traveling behind me? I guess I left on the signal all the way from here to Tennessee. My excuse is that I am oldIt isn't like you can trust the turn signals anyhow. Too many people signal left and turn right, don't signal at all, or leave their turn signal on for miles and miles as they go straight.
SO MANY people here in S.FL do not use their signals and it is REALLY irritating! Especially in traffic/rush hour. Am I supposed to read your mind?!It isn't like you can trust the turn signals anyhow. Too many people signal left and turn right, don't signal at all, or leave their turn signal on for miles and miles as they go straight.
Some of us like pretty colors. Duh.Don’t know why it’s such a big deal. Suddenly bright lights equals braking. Flashing light on one side indicates an upcoming turn. Why does color even matter.
