WiFi hotspot , connection when in Drive

Seems to be a few issues in the past however am I correct in saying if you want to use a hotspot you have to connect after the car is in drive or reserve ?

I've noticed although I have remain connected when in drive it will disconnect from my phone when I put the car in drive and I have to manually connect to my hotspot.

Very odd at it connects before it's in drive when I'm just sat in the car.

There is a setting "Remain connected in drive" or some such wording. It is on the screen where you enter the password for the hotspot. With this once you are connected you stay connected. It mostly just works.
