Window won't go up or down

One of my front windows won't go up or down. When I press the button to raise or lower it, it makes a "sand on glass" sound.

I have requested service but it's taking a long time to get the part, so I was wondering if anyone else have experienced something like this, and what the solution was.

Is there anything I can do to fix it myself, eg. has the window left the rail, or do I need a new regulator?

Sounds like the regulator in need of replacemen, grinding sounds usually points to mechanical components failing. The windows do really not run in tracks.

Yeah prob just needs a window regulator it's an easy job, takes about 45 min the first time. Sometimes they have it in stock and you can just walk up and buy it over the counter.
