IMO, the two main factors to consider are 1) how dirty is your car and 2) is saving water a concern at all?
If your car is very dirty and has lots of road grime or caked on dirt, then the only safe option is a traditional car wash (can use 70-100 gallons of water). If your car is lightly to moderately dusty or dirty, then a rinseless wash works great without scratching the paint (uses 2-6 gallons of water). Just be sure to spray on the rinseless wash solution on the dirtiest areas to pretreat. If the car is lightly dusty, then a waterless wash works well, is super fast, and saves a ton of water (uses 500-1000 ml of water).
As for chosing a rinseless wash or waterless wash solution, do you plan on applying any sealants or waxes to the paint after the wash? If you just want a quick wash and do not plan on applying any after-wash products, then you can use something like ONRWW (the green one) or Wolfgang Uber Rinseless Wash. These products contain either waxes or gloss enhancers that make your paint look glossy and shiny, but the waxes or gloss enhancers may interfere with sealants or waxes bonding to the paint. If you plan on applying a sealant or wax, then IMO it is best to use a rinseless or waterless wash that contains no waxes or gloss enhancers such as Mckees 37 N-914 (contains no waxes, gloss enhancers, or polymers). The regular ONR (the blue one) does contain some polymers, but supposedly they are removed in the drying process so this would be another good choice before applying sealants or waxes.
Finally, if you have a ceramic coating, IMO it is best to use a ceramic-infused rinsless wash such as those offered by Mckees 37, Wolfgang, or Adams.
