NICE shows off prototype electric car; Liberty plans an electric Range Rover - Engadget

CAR’s Nice highlight

The electric Fiat 500 – the e500 – that Nice will soon start to sell. It’s built in Italy by electric vehicle specialists Micro-Vett, who take the appealing 500 and do the electric conversion. The usual Fiat 500 options – thousands of them – are on offer.

The e500 is the only Nice-marketed electric vehicle to use new-fangled lithium ion batteries, like your laptop or mobile. The other Nice cars – including the Ze-O – all use old tech lead-acid batteries.

What were they thinking?

That electric 500 will cost £30,000!

In a nutshell

The e500 is way too pricey and the Ze-O is too homespun and crude. But electric urban vehicles are here to stay. Expect major advances soon.

Ya know, there was another thread here somewhere that discussed this car. Particularly how funny looking it is. But of course it's near impossible to find by searching for "NICE".

Edit:
Finally managed to find it by searching for "NICE" and "funny". Threads merged.

It may have been, but the fall of the Pound against the Euro and Dollar has caught a lot of people out. It could well have been they ended up paying more for their imports than they were selling them for here.

I was on their waiting list for a drive of the electric Fiat 500. That was supposed to be in August but I didn't hear anything by the end of that month, so I emailed them then and was told it would be arriving very soon. That was the last I heard from them, unfortunately.

Its a shame you never got to try the NICE 500, I see it almost every day, parked behind a scrap metal dumpster! Luckily she was just the first of many...
