Tesla Vision coming to radar-equipped cars on 2022.24.6

    1) If it's been released in the US for a while, why would they need to start at lower speeds for wide release? 2) I didn't buy a 50 grand car to be a guinea pig and have functionality that I paid for taken away. If I wanted to be that I would allow the "advanced" beta software updates. I...

Tesla Vision coming to radar-equipped cars on 2022.24.6

Great, so I can no longer set follow distance 1 (mandatory in UK rush hour traffic to stop people cutting in) and I lose 10 km/h from the speed I can use cruise control on the autobahn. How is this an improvement?

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

I think that is already disproven by the fact that battery has already won in the bus market where battery buses number in the tens of thousands (there are some small hydrogen bus projects but they are pretty much all subsidised with public money) and battery is ahead in the truck market as...

    Tow hitch availability?

Has anyone had any further updates on this? Misterdotcom still say they are finalising their Model 3 product, after a bit of a hitch... Did anyone get a Model S version and successfully insure it in the UK with the TÜV certificate?

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

When your loaner Mirai test accidentally uncovers the truth... As soon as a few cars need to use a station, it all goes wrong. I can't agree with his conclusion either as a) some EVs now can do 10-80% in the time he is waiting in line, b) You can build a 20-bay supercharger for the cost of one...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Reviving this thread as I hadn't seen it posted anywhere else. Thanks to Twitter user Josh Stringfellow I was made aware yesterday that Motive Fuels, the new name for ITM Power's hydrogen filling station JV, has closed down their M25 Shell Cobham services, Shell Gatwick and Swindon filling...

Model S Plaid just hit 216mph.

The two speed gearbox was always a joke when you realise there is a train that has gone 374 *mph* on a single speed gearbox. However, regarding the Nurburgring, I don't think the time is that great. There are BMW M4s, M3s, Alpha Giulia and a Porsche Panamera that have gone around faster.

    Poll on V11 interface

I'm on a road trip in a country where even touching the screen at all is legally dubious, so I definitely don't want to be retraining muscle memory on the go and I'm not installing it til I get back. But all the videos I've seen of the new UI show that burying stuff like wipers, seat heaters etc...

When the time comes to justify a hardware upgrade I am sure they will do it, just like adding CCS to hundreds of sites, but 150 is fine for an SC with a much larger V3 site 3 miles away and far better located for trunk roads.
  22. dpeilow

Wiki UK and Ireland Supercharger Site News

I think it makes perfect sense if you consider the SC itself might need to supercharge customer cars before pickup and not all of those will be CCS fitted. Given that you have Pease Pottage just down the road with V3s, this is more of a secondary site anyway.

The cable "tombstones" are unlikely to need permission but the cabinets holding the power electronics probably do. At Inverness it is all inside the car park so they likely got away without it. I am wondering if they are doing the same at Winchester SC.

Why bother obscuring the number plates? Name and shame the offenders! Whose car park is it, the Holiday Inn's? If so then what agreement does Tesla have in place? I think this is always the risk with a site that is this large and standing mostly empty, most of the time. And once one ICE goes...

    Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)

Well I thought about it and went out for a few more drives. My finger hovered over the "Request Refund" link several times and when it got to 23:50 on Friday night, just before the 48 hours was up, I finally pressed it. Honestly I want what it promises, but without the nagging. I would pay 10k...

    Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)

Indeed. I was lucky enough to drive / be driven by a Model S in the US 5 years ago without all the nagging and it was a different world. Trouble is, will Audi/Merc/VW catch up before I still the car? And why would the UK sign up to this? The US is a member of the same UN/ECE organisation and...

    Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)

The main problem is when the "confirm lane change" nag comes on, you take your eyes off the screen for a split second and then the "nudge wheel" nag comes on while you are in the process of checking mirrors etc to indicate. You find yourself wondering why nothing is happening, only to look back...

    Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)

I bought the EAP upgrade a couple of nights ago and used it to drive to work yesterday (40 miles each way on the A34).
