I think the bigger problem with battery health and life is how long you leave it undercharged or overcharged. Speed of at-home L2 charging (meaning AC charging of ANY of the two voltages) is not relevant to the life of the battery. Merely how quickly it reaches your desired state of charge...

Completely agreed. If/when I do that trip in my M3, I would be looking to borrow/rent a ChaDeMo. I usually drive that trip in a rental mini van though due to cargo/people so it may never happen. Why Tesla hasn't put anything up there is beyond me. I guess it's just not a big enough market.

A fair point, and for that single opportunity when that might happen, I'll likely have rented or borrowed a ChaDeMo adapter from someone for that very odd trip situation that I cannot envision in my daily travels, I'd rather spend my $600 Canadian plus tax on .. I dunno. New tires? A home...

Whelp, car was just dropped in for the repair. I delayed by a week because of a camping trip and didn't want new paint going through the dirt/dust. I'll post pics of the final repair.
