Just (before 9/15 225 CC got ITM again) rolled that contract to 10/20 230 CC for 5 dollar strike improvement + 600 premium. Letting the stock do its thing now for a few weeks, unless we see a deep decline.

I had the same with 225 CC. Never had the idea it would get OTM again, so rolled it about monthly since june for about 1500 premium in total now. No worries letting them go if that was the case, because premium came in on a regular base. Now we’re back OTM more possibilities are present, but...

Rolled back in a 380 CC for 2025/01 to 2024/06 280 CC for a bit of credit. Should we bounce back higher, there should be enough options to roll higher and further in time (2026 options coming in a few weeks as well). Letting 09/15 225 CC run for a bit. Expiring OTM would be a pleasant surprise.

It’s a natural thing. You eye a specific amount of weekly premium, but forget how close to the current SP you sometimes get. I tend to go lower/higher 2 weeks out if that’s the case, but not always best decision as well.

So somewhere between 250 and 270 today seems the sweet spot for today...

So are all options always executed? I can imagine it makes more sense for a buyer to sell the contract in stead of executing it? Read into this and it seems ITM options aren’t always executed/assigned.

With 225CC in play for friday, I'll have to keep a close eye on the extrinsic. Was about .50 last friday. Rolling them a week/few weeks/a month at max isn't really worth it (yet), so actually waiting for those shares to get called away or a new decline of the SP. To be okay with a monthly roll...

Not too sure about more upside here. Multiple is already pretty high now imo. Earnings are more important right now to see how margins are. Wouldn’t be surprised seeing sell the news tomorrow.

Lower IV implies less chance/expectation of high spikes up or down. Higher IV the opposite, hence high IV when approaching earnings. Can’t say IV correlates to bullish or bearish price action, BUT IV can go higher as well when a steep rise or fall of the SP occurs.

Did you take a look at Bolero (KBC) yet? It can be slow sometimes (not a lot), but it's a good app.

Very clear what's happening here these last few days. Stock went too high, too fast. Bigger picture posted here some time ago was a reversal around 270s. That happened. It could go as low as 190s if that scenario comes true.

I know I said premarket is not that important before, but going up/down 1% premarket is a different thing than going up/down 4%. Trading below 250 now shows once more how fast Tesla can reverse. Premarket yesterday was 278 at some point..

Was patiently waiting for an opportunity to roll my 6/30 225 CC one month further for 150/week or 600 and this dip just made me able to execute. Was like 400 when we were at 275. Not bad being ITM and 225 isn’t even that impossible after earnings.

Don't give it too much attention because yesterday we were down in the 250's and that never happend during regular trading.

Looks like someone missed to the run. On the other hand, when you have a run from 100 to almost 300 in less than 6 months then shouldn't it be wise to sell some (sorry for swearing, but this is the options thread where we buy and sell shares all the time when contracts get executed ;) )

Just like the perfect storm to drag Tesla lower when we reached the 100s, this might have been a perfect storm to drag it higher. Maybe macro-wise there was expected more from the FED and we correct a bit now.

We'll see where it starts in premarket trading, but this gives an idea. Wouldn't mind consolidating here, but I wouldn't be surprised Q2 results will drag us down short term. Current rise isn't driven by fundamentals (only) IMO and margins will bottom in Q2 for now. But after all it's very hard...

Actually you gave the perfect explanation. If you sold cc's against a lot of shares you don't mind selling, then go for the premium. If you actually want to keep them (for the current strike), then go for strike improvement.

Share price may never hit before expiration date or it may be below on expiration date. In those cases: no capital gains. But like @Max Plaid says, this roll gives you premium as well, so as long you're okay with the received premium AND the possibility to lose the shares for 300, why not? But...
