    Test drive review: BMW i4-40

I did one of their test drive events; both i4 models. I agree with all of these comments ^^^. Also, it was a bit off-putting to have to order the M50 to get driving assistance features. Oddly enough, I liked the acceleration sound effects!

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I had the same experience, driving only 1-2 miles a day since COVID. Tesla service even sent a PDF report of their findings.

Mobile Connector no longer included with new cars [posted 04/16/2022 - Tesla confirms adapter included with cars ordered before 04/17/22]

^^^ This is why I never bought a wall connector. Tesla changes like the wind on everything, so I can totally imagine this happening. Also, way back when I got my 3, they delivered it with like 40% charge and the first thing I did was pop out UMC and charge on 5-15. In retrospect I know I...

    Mach E Weirdness

@ScottNY Totally agree with theories on A, aware of the Phrase from C. B might be a stretch, as it’s hard to imagine someone who can afford a Mach E ( along with the 15k added dealer markup) feeling like $6 gas price forced an EV purchase. I agree that the Mach E must be a hell of a lot more...

    Mach E Weirdness

Went out to eat last night, saw a nice new Mach E in the parking lot. Stickers on the back window in this order … A. Thin blue line flag B. Forced to buy this EV against my will C. Lets go Brandon Still struggling to interpret this combo 😂

That part I knew, they are refurbished packs with age appropriate capacity.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I mean there has to be some objective measure right? If I went and said my LR only charges to 225 miles (69%), what’s to stop service from saying that’s not the case? If there was any chance of that happening, the battery warranty is a joke right?
  8. S

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Am I incorrect in thinking there’s an alert in the car when it hits the 70% or lower capacity? Thought I read in other threads that people got alerts.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

You can make 65 miles each way without charging on an LR model. I regularly go from Orange County to San Diego and back, which is 80 miles each way. I'm not a leadfoot, and never tried in wind or rain though.

    Inflationary Price Increase coming?

We haven't even talked about the seeming neurosis of the price hikes; lol. $1k hike overnight, $2.5k hike days later. I feel like others may do this better. If Apple wants more for an iPhone, they time increase to feature releases and some regularity.
  11. S

    Inflationary Price Increase coming?

Spot on! The BMW i4 caught my eye when it was announced, but then I thought "dealers" and "dealer markup" which I'm sure will be at least as much as markup on the Mach-E. Forget about it!

    Inflationary Price Increase coming?

I thought MYP at $63k might be a good upgrade for my 2019 Model 3 at some point, but not $67k. At this point, I'll baby my Model 3 as long as humanely possible. Even worst worse case of paying out of pocket for a battery failure at $15-20k seems like a bargain by comparison!

    Scary glitch backing up

Goes without saying. Haste almost took me down with this one.
  14. S

    Scary glitch backing up

Right. My theory is MCU crash or subsystem crash. I just so happened to have mobile service coming for something else tomorrow AM, but I’m going to ask if they can dig up logs and have a look.

    Scary glitch backing up

I do have that recall notice, but it was thinking it read like an all or nothing failure of the camera.
  16. S

    Scary glitch backing up

Sensors too, or you don’t let it get that far?
  17. S

    Scary glitch backing up

I feel like in our cars, with limited visibility out the back window, the backup guidance should be redundant (I.e. if the camera fails, promximity sensors shouldn’t). Last night while backing up, I had a scary situation that made me realize I’ve become dependent on these systems. I had to...

So these two added being 50% over car reading is normal for park plus conversion loss?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I remember reading on this site a long time back that if you set your charge limit to say 90%, car's display says you used 10 KwH since last charge, you recharge to starting point should be about 10 KwH. My car will regularly take 16 KwH in actual energy before hitting 90% in above scenario...

    Long Line for Charging

I was going to say there's like 2-3 chargers in SLO besides Madonna Inn! I've run into exactly two ugly line situations like that video ... 1. Friars Road in SD when they were building out new stalls. The line was 5 deep, so I left to A Street. 2. Driving south on the 101 from up north...

Curious about this tire for 18” aeros

The Hankook 4s2 got a great rating in consumer reports and scored very high on low rolling resistance. Anyone tried it on Aeros?

    Holiday Update

Has anyone figured out where the save dashcam clips button went?
  23. S

    Holiday Update

I finally figured out the culprit to the camera problem, at least in my car ... Seems the holiday update itself did not cause the cameras to fail, but running the light show prevented them from working correctly afterwards. Service remotely pushed 2021.44.25.2 install (again), and after a reboot...

    v11 software update SUCKS

Not only it is difficult to use, it broke stuff. None of the cameras work on my car anymore.

    Tesla Update 2021.44.25.2 Issues

I had to call mobile service after this update, cameras don’t work at all anymore. At first I thought it was backup cam only, but it seems to have ranked all the cameras on the car.

    Holiday Update

The Christmas show was cool, but the update broke my backup camera display. Just a black screen now.

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

Even if you take negotiation out, the amount of time you spend with traditional dealers is ridiculous as well. Case in point ... Wife wanted a new SUV years back, did research online, reached out to several dealers for best and final price. Arranged financing through credit union, proceeded...

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

^^^ This. I feel like I can't go back now that I've experienced the easy way!
  29. S

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

Thinking this through more, other companies seem to have a decisiveness and purpose with their price hikes. Unsure if Tesla's is on purpose to scare people into buying before the next hike, or they just don't have a good plan? Someone may have said: Keep hiking until factories can catch up maybe?
  30. S

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

I'd love all the powertrain, software and drive control of a Tesla coupled with a paint job from almost any other car company; lol!
  31. S

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

I remember when their big thing was the $35k car and making EVs affordable for the masses, save the planet and all that. The more expensive cars were supposed to pave the way for these.
  32. S

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

Price hikes this year are ~20% right? Think inflation is ~6.9% in general right?
  33. S

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

Not going to win a ton of friends on a Tesla forum by saying stuff like this, but here goes ... They could surely push the price for these vehicles into the high 60's, low 70s eventually but then they're getting into pricing where buyers are used to getting luxury feel, especially on the...

    Another Price Increase? 11/11

I'm a relatively happy Model 3 owner who's toyed with the notion of trading for a Y, but I want something else like a 4860 battery pack or meaningful updates to pay that much of a price increase.

    Model 3 Stock Tires - 18 inch

Anyone taken delivery of a Model 3 lately? If so, is 18" stock still MXM4 or something else?
  36. S

    Current Delivery Times

That's insane, $46,999 (pre-tax) is about what I paid new for my 2019 LR RWD back in 2019.

Help me decide: Model Y or Mach-E

My cousin's husband was looking at Mach-E's because they had a perception Tesla was too expensive. They called a local Ford dealer who told them it was list + 20k because they couldn't keep them on the lot. I won't ever go back to a traditional car brand for this reason alone!

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

The Volta thing is good to know, but in my case it was my second stop after Chargepoint gave me trouble to try another network. Based on what I learned from you, will avoid them in the future. I don't typically use public chargers around the house, but since the adapter failed on my last road...

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

I did think of this, and tried every single Chargepoint station in a bank of 9 by the house (you can push "cancel" if charge hasn't started and they void the payment). Also tried the Volta at our Target, no payment involved there.
  40. S

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

Well, that was short lived. Two weeks and replacement J1772 adapter won't charge anywhere either. Scheduled a second mobile service appointment, this time they asked for $105 for diagnostics.

    Hit by Flying Debris

That’s scary, glad you’re ok. I had an incident with a loose tire bouncing down the that mountain pass by Palm Springs. Took out a fog light, headlight, broke bumper clips.
  42. S

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I concur, thought it mattered on long trips, but it really doesn't. Once I finally took a long trip, realized my butt/legs needed a break before the car needed charging.
  43. S

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

Yep and they adjusted tire pressure, topped wiper fluid and oiled something under the front wheels while they were here as well. Great suggestion!

    A better route planner

Agreed. 20% is most comfortable for me, and 20-80% takes now time. I rolled into Goleta Supercharger at 20% a few days back, and with the mess of construction and multiple queues of cars, I was lucky enough to be able to leave and go to Montecito. Wasn't aware of the wind calculations in ABRP...

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

Just an update on this ... I was able to get Mobile Service out this morning, they swapped my adapter immediately and suggested we go to Chargepoint about 1/2 mile down the road to verify. New adapter had trouble as well on the first charger, but moved down one and it was fine. Tech said he...
  46. S

    A better route planner

The car's own route plan is way more conservative and useful than ABRP. I've never been comfortable rolling into a Supercharger with 10% SOC, too little margin for error.

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

Thanks again. I'd seen the other thread, but thought melting would be more obvious. Maybe you all can see something I don't in attachments. I'll try service appointment, I was thinking to chat and get some advice.
  48. S

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

Thanks all. Is the melting visible? I don't see anything on mine, but I can post pics. How does one open service tickets? I tried Tesla support chat this AM, but its waiting for an agent since 8:30AM.

Anyone had a J1772 adapter give out?

Unfortunately found this out during a road trip, but had backup plan ... My J1772 adapter that came with the car has never given me issues until I was out of town this past weekend. Prior to that, I'd used it successfully in Manhattan Beach Mall back in June. On the trip, went to a...

    Ridge in the footwell flooot

@KenC: I tried getting a picture that would illustrate clearly, but the carpet definitely masks it in pictures. @m a x i m u s: The ridge does cross the driver and passenger footwell. It’s maybe 6 inches max rearward of gas/break pedals.
