Will Tesla Charge for HW3 to use a FSD subscription?

Any Canadians see an 'upgrade' option? HW2.5 and this is all I see. I wonder how much it'll cost for us. Or if the upgrade is even allowed. I also have free unlimited Premium Connectivity since I bought in early 2019, wouldn't put it past Tesla to accidentally remove that with the hardware...

    2020.8.1

I wonder if HW2.5 will ever get any updated visualizations. Hope it's not the end of the road for us, my car was delivered last June.

HW2.5 even after April 12th build date

Same boat here. I'm quite upset about being lied to, but there's really no recourse.

Model 3 Door Handles: What Are They Made Of?

I remember seeing a photo of one that had been snapped in half (some vandal pushed in the handle and pulled towards the front of the car until it broke) - seemed to look like hollow plastic, but I can't seem to find it again. The handles do get hot enough in the sun, so I guess the coating is...

How did you get this breakdown of your parts from a VIN?

2019.32.2.2 - the problem is back and worse than ever. Sad.

    Online chat with Tesla support?

Sorry for the necro, but the button is often hard to find, and doesn't show up for various reasons. You can brute-force a connection by visiting Salesforce - Unlimited Edition.

Autopilot Called Out in NTSB Report on Tesla Crash into Fire Truck

Well, that is concerning. Three seconds at 21 to 31mph was not enough time for autopilot to detect a stationary fire truck. It was a 2014 Model S with HW1. HW1 was aware of a decelerating car ahead 7 seconds before impact, which changed lanes after 4 seconds. It took another 2.51 seconds before...

Rear View Camera - atleast 5 sec delay in coming on (always black initially)

Mine has much improved with the later updates, I'm on the same version and it still happens rarely but no more than 5 seconds, and definitely not every time. If it's consistent with every ride then I would submit a ticket. I would call the issue 'fixed' for me.

Almost certainly, although there is a very small chance of getting 2.5 if you are ordering a config that is unlikely to get FSD (SR/+ especially with black paint). Teslas are not built to order, and it's possible one has been kicking around a lot somewhere.

Pacific Northwest Owners (Seattle, Portland, or towns/cities in the region)

We arrived with about 100km to spare (20 something %), charged up to 80% which was just under 300km IIRC. The screen said about 25mins when we left, but it may have sped up after that because we didn't get to finish shopping at Fred Meyers. Although we weren't in a rush, just browsing normally...

Pacific Northwest Owners (Seattle, Portland, or towns/cities in the region)

Update on the Vancouver to Seattle trip in an SR+ - charged up to 100% pre-trip but could have left at 90%. Easily made it to Lynnwood supercharger and had to rush out of the Fred Meyers when I got the alert that the car was already charged to 80%. This was my first time supercharging and now...

What’s the average Wh/mi you are getting

2714 miles, 575 kWh, 212 Wh/Mi. (4368 km & 132 Wh/km for my fellow Canucks) I stay in Chill mode mostly to avoid tire wear as an SR+ RWD with aeros. Looks like it doesn't actually make a big difference to anything if you're not constantly ripping it on the highway. The car isn't even 3 months...

Pacific Northwest Owners (Seattle, Portland, or towns/cities in the region)

Planning a trip from Vancouver to Seattle this weekend for PAX - a little nervous about the 220km trip (137 miles) in an SR+. Particularly as my 100% charge range displays ~367km (228 miles), a bit above the expected degradation for a sub-3-months-old car. Probably just going to park it on a...

Early (~2012/2013) Model Ss and Xs do not have the ability to use dashcam USBs or activate Sentry Mode, for starters. Not really a stretch to think future features could be hardware restricted from HW2.5, especially since HW3 is a significant upgrade (~5 to 10x more powerful).

My Model 3 SR+ has Heated Seats in the Back

Yikes. You've got a poor attitude, trdb. Sure, if people are chatting in demanding extra features to be activated, that's not cool. But I don't think there's anything wrong with politely asking whether anything has changed, considering how common things shift with Tesla. That's what customer...

My Model 3 SR+ has Heated Seats in the Back

Good grief, I asked a CSR a simple question, it's not like I kicked your dog. Get off your high horse. All SR+s have the wiring for heated rear seats, just like they all have fog lights. My rear seats physically heated up before that function was removed. They are disabled by software only...

    Console Screen - Expected Lifespan

Has anyone heard any details about how long the center screen is expected to last? Any information about stress testing, etc? It's been about two years since the first Model 3s rolled off the assembly line, and I haven't heard any issues with them yet. However, the yellow banding on Model...

I used this link: Tesla Info: Get your car configuration including whether it has free supercharging to check the details for my Model 3, it seems to be the most comprehensive details out there. My SR+ does not have rear heated seats, and online chat this morning told me (quite rudely) that no SR+s have this feature.

    stupid noob question

Seconding @yerEVan - I got the Tuxmats because they cover the most surface area out of all the mats I saw (weathertech/maxspider/Tesla OEM). Carwash won't wash Model 3s

Do you not usually sit in your car while it goes through the car wash? Is it common to leave your car with the car wash attendants in the USA? I can understand their frustration if weird interactions with the owner's phone & keycard & car are slowing their process down and costing them money.

Any experience with Mud Flaps (Garde-boues) from ebay?

Yes, the reason is that they're cheap. They're removing the bloody USB cables for starters.

One tip I recommend is to bring a small sticky note pad with you, and put little stickers by all the flaws that you see. Really helps the detailers as they're doing their final touch up, and for you to point out things that should be on the due bill.

Doubt it. It's the oldest trick in the car dealership book. Once you take delivery, you accept the contract, no refunds. Big box stores offer refunds because they hope you'll come back. Car sales couldn't really care less if you're a repeat customer or not - that's years away.

The luxury tax is not separate, it is a part of the PST calculation. If you paid 49040.40 on delivery then you were charged correctly. If not, the CRA will come after you for the remainder.

Blog Musk Says Cuphead Coming to Tesla’s Game Library

Oops I meant service Appt, today was delivery of course. I would hope the warranty would cover it, but I'll be honest, I did feel rushed through. How to back within 12"/300mm of a wall (pics)???

No, I think they mean right foot brake. Put your right foot on the brake > turn on Creep > switch to Reverse > lift your right foot up, creep backwards, put your foot down when you're done.

HW2.5 even after April 12th build date

The hiring bar for online chat agents is quite low - I did it once as a summer job, if you have a pulse and can type over 30wpm, you're in. I'd bet money that most Tesla chat agents couldn't find their bottoms with both hands.

HW2.5 even after April 12th build date

I haven't found any reliable sources that say [X version is for HW2.5, Y version is for HW3]. Can you point me to any? Not exactly. Elon has promised that you will be retrofitted with the 'FSD Computer', which is currently in version HW3. You'll get FSD capability, but not necessarily the...
