    AWD delivery thread

We picked up VIN 97XXX this morning in Marina del Rey, CA. We were in and out in 15 minutes. Super painless and our car was flawless. The delivery center wasn't super busy, at least not yet since it was 9:30AM. There were 3 or 4 groups other than us waiting for their deliveries, and there were...

Configuration invite for Non-Day 1 Reservations

Thanks for the heads up! I just checked and my late June 2016 reservation is ready to configure (owner, California). Before this the delivery estimator had been at Nov-Jan 2018 for First Production and I was already thinking that wasn’t going to happen, but it did. I’ll be delaying my order so...

    Close call at intersection

I was about a second away from being T-boned today. I was stopped at an intersection in Culver City when the light turned green. It took me a full second to start moving, and I accelerated quite slowly mainly because my wife was in the car and she's not generally a fan of fast launches (I leave...

    Finally, Sweet sounds of silence

Did this sound go away if you out pressure somewhere on the dash, for example by pressing down lightly on the protruding part on top of the screen? How hard was it to reproduce? I have a very similar sound and the Service Center tried to fix it, but it's not easy to reproduce on demand and I...

Anyone bought Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS tires yet? 70k warranty!

The lack of traction of these Pirellis at low speeds is a bit concerning to me, since I was considering these tires for my P85D. I currently have the 19" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 and while they work pretty well I can still feel loss of traction when launching about half of the time. I'm...

Question about cQuartz Finest and swirls on my model S

I have a black P85D with CQuartz Finest and the swirls are back after a few washes. I have decided to just live with it and not worry constantly about having a perfect looking car anymore. I found it to not be worth the stress. Definitely understand be frustration though.

How Quiet is your P85D ?

My P85D has always had a somewhat noticeable whine coming from the front motor whose frequency depends on acceleration. I don't mind this sound at all, I actually like it since it's nice audible feedback with regards to how much acceleration you're applying. However, it has also developed a...

Not sure if this is the first sighting of a production S85D in the wild, but right now there's a newly-built white S85D at the Hawthorne supercharger: The VIN is 5YJSA1H20EFP68286. That seems to decode to an 85D. Probably good news for folks waiting for the first 85D deliveries. Also next to...

Hand wash and microscratches: Any car wash recommendations in the West LA area?

Thanks guys, I'll seriously consider the coating or clear bra option after this. How susceptible are non-black Model S colors to this? For example, would a Steel Grey need the same level of care to avoid these microscratches?

Hand wash and microscratches: Any car wash recommendations in the West LA area?

I've always had my black Model S hand washed at the same detailer in Santa Monica, but recently I've noticed some tiny scratches on the clear coat that seem to be consistent with hand washing motions. Minor scratch from keying - how to best repair it?

Unfortunately I couldn't see any cameras in the vicinity of my car. Yesterday as I approached my car I was greeted with a scratch on the rear passenger door from someone who had decided it was a great idea to key my Model S. This happened at my workplace parking garage no less, which is shared by half a dozen companies. I'm not an expert in the art of car...

Model S Owners who Rent (non-homeowners)

Yeah, you're probably right. I don't really have the background to understand the sections of the Civil Code that govern this. Model S Owners who Rent (non-homeowners)

I live in an apartment building in California, and the parking garage has no outlets of any kind. I do my charging exclusively at J-1772 public charging stations.
