Found a way to elimate ICE-ing

Set of 4 Wheel Dolly: Hydraulic Wheeled Car Dollies 4-pack, Storage Rack Spendy to have "Just in case" of ICE-ing. Its the only sure fire way I know of to get their auto out of the way and you a charge, WITHOUT needing to harm or damage anything, or trap/block anyone.

1st Tesla - Shocked at process

I feel you. My SR+ is my first/last Tesla. Shockingly bad customer service and piss poor paint, fit & finish. Want Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus to hurry it up already with the BEV development. (less so for Lexus... the gross predator mouth grilles are a stank-nasty design ethos)

    edmunds range ratings

@alexgr Thanks for the link. I remembered that the EPA did that, as well as let the car marinate overnight before testing... as part of their SOP for BEV efficiency testing. Honestly, the sitting overnight thing is odd, like they expect user to treat it just like gas/ICE vehicle? "Honey, gotta...

    edmunds range ratings

As an owner who has never gotten close to EPA on highway, but can easily beat EPA around town, the answer seems obvious. ('19 SR+ 18" w/out aero covers, 40-42psi OEM Michelins) ...and NO, I don't think it's because they are paid shills, lol. What's that old saying?... "Never attribute to...

Just finished my first "road trip" and I am not happy with range

That may very well be what it takes though... to meet/beat EPA in real world >70mph driving. EDIT- Seems like that would hurt profits long term though... have to find better way to meet EPA highway IRL.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Your car looks GREAT!!! I honestly prefer beefy tires and have disdain for the tiny, stretched sidewalls everyone else seems to like... Don't think the wheels look small or the gap is bad. Frankly, you've changed my mind about going larger than 18" being an automatic "nope".

    Range on Long Road Trips

Hell yah, so sick of hearing that; "ICE cars fail to meet EPA highway range too". No, they don't. Not routinely or as a matter of course anyway. Unlike Tesla BEVs. Plus, when they do fail like that, the owners end up getting compensated for the lies/exaggerations, like the Genesis example...

Just finished my first "road trip" and I am not happy with range

OP, I agree that highway range reductions in a Tesla are simply not acceptable to many folks coming from an ICE car, and there needs to be an "EPA Highway Range" rating added to all BEVs to assist buyers with choosing the right vehicle. (C'mon... Zero motorcycles give you highway range @70mph...

how normal is it for center screen to crash and lose functionality?

Recently had this happen on 2020.48.12.1. Been a long while since a crash/unplanned reboot. Occurred after changing the wheel config in service-related settings, to reflect removed aero covers. Agree with others that UI is whack, especially version 2020.48.35.5 that my brother caused to be...

What are you guys using your 12 volt socket for?

My music & dashcam USB hogs the other USB type-A port in fwd cubby, so... I use the 12v port in rear cubby for (2nd) iPhone charger & air compressor.

    Underwhelmed by holiday update

I 100% agree that even one tiny superfluous enhancement, like a game or fart sound, is not only stupid right now... IT IS INSULTING TO ME AS AN EXISTING OWNER OF THEIR DEEPLY-FLAWED PRODUCT. Before even one staff member spent one keystroke of work on a fart sound gimmick, Tesla was OBLIGATED to...

Deciding on rear window tint with/without forward roof tint. Any pics/opinions?

Answered “rear only” I did the darkest spectra photosync ird (30%) on rear doors, plus the 1pc rear glass. On the front doors I went as close to AZ legal limit as possible (45%). On the windshield, I used the lightest shade they offer (70%). The roof glass was left untouched, with factory tint...

Autopilot Cruise Broken and Unsafe by Tesla

PS- 2020.44.10.1 I am very happy about the new option to set cruise at current velocity! yay! :) Now if it would just maintain that speed, lol. AP still cannot maintain appropriate lane position through a >65mph sweeping curve on a 4-lane northbound freeway with proper markings in a major US...

Autopilot Cruise Broken and Unsafe by Tesla

OP- You probably already know, but.. If you do the right thumbwheel press, you can quickly give a verbal bug report of experience. Although, I don't know if that works the same in all areas of the world, or how much attention to those bug reports receive from support/engineering. In the USA...

Autopilot Cruise Broken and Unsafe by Tesla

Or being immediately attacked by the kool-aid brigade scared them away... lol. Gotta have thick skin if you want to be frank/real about the shortcomings of these cars and/or their design flaws/oversights on the internet. All the fanboys go full feeding frenzy every time someone insinuates the...

Trying to play mp3's without the 400 bugs and hurdles Tesla throws at you...

@greenberger - Sorry if that was confusing. I also said I could be wrong, and updates may be responsible for that improvement. I wasn't scientific enough about it. (car updated and I didn't restart testing from scratch...) Also, I had many, many folders, sometimes with only 1-2 tracks in them...

    FSD should be renamed

I agree with OP. If the car is not capable of picking me up somewhere and taking me home in the back/passenger seat, as in real/full lvl 5 automation, then calling it "Full Self Driving" should not be legally allowed. To be fair, this is hardly a problem exclusive to to Tesla, or even...

    Electric Vehicle Jobs

I think the part of the dubious 1 million jobs claim that is plausible is during the transition phase. Making all the machines that make the machines, yada-yada. That phase will need "X" more 'hands on deck' or whatever...but once all the industries are transitioned... Well, y'all already said...

SD Card or USB Stick for Sentry Mode recordings?

I’ve had good luck running 2x exFAT partitions (cam/music) on a single SanDisk extreme plus microSD. I use the smallest SanDisk ‘nub’ adapter (blk plastic and connector) with my mid-2019 build SR+. I tried all different expensive/cheap non-SSD options, and this is best I have used. The popular...

Trying to play mp3's without the 400 bugs and hurdles Tesla throws at you...

USB playback is pretty stable for me nowadays, with very little messing about or reindexing, so definitely better than when I got it a year ago. (have to periodically empty the cam files tho) Last 3 or 4 versions of Tesla software really helped with car correctly resuming playback on entry...

New tires killed my range (20-30% decrease)

Yes, odometer is tied to wheel speed/revolutions. Yes, changing OD of tire/wheel pckg will alter both odometer and speedometer. (which in turn throws off range est.) IIRC, no auto manufacturer sold in US is allowed to use GPS for odometer. I am amazed to hear OP's low lifetime wh/mi. I...

I need to know about your rattles....

Tech went with me on ride along to diagnose a rattle 2-ish weeks ago. We were both masked up, windows vented/AC on fresh. ...bout as good as one can do in the circumstance. They fixed one intermittent rattle I have, out of two. (other did not show itself, but was documented at least) Had an S...

Performance 3 really needs basic differentiating features (dash, console, etc.)

+1 on an optional pckg. that has better seats, with adj. length thigh support, better bolstering, and ventilation. Even around Phoenix's 1mi. x 1mi. grid, I frequently find myself longing for better bolsters. (...and some more front camber) Every time I leave the valley, I wish for longer seat...

How bad is M3 paint in reality?

TL;DR- As others have expressed, YMMV with paint quality, regardless of price point. If you have an eye for detail and the delivery is in good/bright conditions, you will see some issues, guaranteed. I have never seen a Tesla with perfect paint, even post-correction. I've seen hundreds up...

    2020.40.8 ghost braking

First drive on v2020.40.8 was this morning. Good: No phantom braking. (WooHoo!) Greatly improved lane placement through long sweeping curves on freeway. Bad: AP still cannot handle anything but a straight line with any kind of polish, like a halfway decent human driver would. There is one...

Why No Automatic Speed Adjust When Enter New Speed Limit Zone?

My experience matches what Randy describes. I am endlessly annoyed when I go from an unlimited freeway/highway/interstate to a long off ramp, and the car decides its needs to slow down before I need to slow down / am ready to disable cruise. I don't use those speed offsets, so the speed...

Cruise control inappropriately slamming on brakes

+1 for needing regular 'dumb' cruise control. I would happily give up both AP & TACC for it. (not range tho...) Also, +1 that even one phantom braking event, in one production model 3 automobile, is 1000% too many. I don't understand how they are getting away with this nonsense. The only...

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

You don’t have to be a blue-hair or boomer to agree with the OP. (40 here) As proven by study after study, real physical controls for vehicular use are superior to touch/soft controls, and will likely remain so. That is, until non-invasive EEG based stuff becomes reality. Plus, the voice...

Um... did this just really happen?! SR+ rear heated seats Musk tweet!

Thanks, that fog light thread is where I snagged the idea to use the amber marker as the turn on for the fog light relay. My SR+ is from summer 19' (forget build month). So I do not have the white accent light, but do have what appears to be a fog light lens over on the opposite side from the...

Um... did this just really happen?! SR+ rear heated seats Musk tweet!

I feel about the rear seat heat like I do about the other software locked items, like the fog lights. If the cost to enable is lower than the cost to bypass the software lock/wire it up myself, then I'm game.

Disable traction control and all nannies with dyno mode [no longer works]

Good question! I feel like I remember seeing some normal regen when driving normal/gentle. I only assumed that the ‘tank slapper’ I had was a side effect of regen. Didn't have time to inspect the screen for a green bar, as lifting while already sliding a little caused it to go very sideways...

Disable traction control and all nannies with dyno mode [no longer works]

I can report that the SR+ in dyno mode is a tail-happy, but mostly predictable little beast. Also can report that if you let regen kick-in whilst sliding, you better have fast hands/feet and lots o' room. Fun, but not OK for the street/daily, especially if one habitually drives like a jerk. I...

new grocery bag hook for m3

I printed all of the different versions of Tesla Model 3 grocery hooks on Thingiverse, plus one my buddy designed. Why= filament is cheap & testing was kinda fun. I tested them with 60# of weight in a canvas bag, on a 116° F day here in Phx. Test was letting them warm in the sun to 120° F...

new grocery bag hook for m3

I used PETG filament to make this one: Smooth self tapping bag hook for Tesla Model 3 trunk by Toucan21 It works great, and is very sturdy with 100% infill. There is another trunk hook design on Thingiverse that looks like the one you posted, but is polymer/3D printed, not metal.

Would you buy a "higher end" Model 3?

100% This: I spend a fair bit of my drive time above 75mph. A Model 3 that was 10db quieter @ 85-90mph, would be awesome.

Is anyone else unhappy with the way this forum has been re-organized?

1st, I readily acknowledge that moderating an online forum is a brutal thankless job. However, that doesn't have to mean that things are a mess either. IMHO, the entire Tesla forum world, not just TMC, is a giant mess of sloppily moderated disorganization. For suggestions on how to do it much...

Brings a tear to my eye...voice command for “Open glovebox”, thank you Elon!

Right... Finally, they get the car to work as it should have from day #1. No physical button for common functions in a two ton moving object is full stop stupid, but at least the voice bit works now. I'm not yang, but I'll answer that one NOLA: I bought it, despite the numerous shortcomings...

Vendor Model 3 Öhlins DFV Coilovers - Engineered by Redwood Motorsports ™

Try to stay with Öhlins dampers on my motorcycles... excited to hear reviews on these. Would be cool to knock 0.5-1.0-ish inches off ride height and improve ride quality & control. (don't want to need adj. camber arms, etc.) Hopefully one of you early adopters is in the PHX valley so I can...

I see the benefits of battery percentage!

+1 on wanting a real world kWh/mi-based 'miles remaining' displayed right next to the SOC %. I'd be fine if they just ditched the display of the EPA range figure altogether, or started there and adjusted per usage. Mostly this is due to 100% SOC equaling roughly 150-190 miles of real world...

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

Good luck! I'm in for the same answers you're after. My car is mainly a commuter, but I do like to do some spirited driving too. I'm still running OEM MXM4 on the stock 18", w/out the covers. So not much to add now. Historically, I've gravitated to the smallest/lightest reliable and...

Installed Matt Shumaker's Driver Centric Screen Mount: photos

Tesla would have to prove that the mod caused the damage/failure in question. However, that doesn't mean that they cannot still drag you through arbitration , etc in dealing with said failure prior to be forced to cover it, if that is in fact what goes down. However, I agree with the other...
