Free Speech and Climate Change Skeptics & Deniers

Raffy, unfortunately people have been using the term law in relation to free speech. Here in the US it isn't law, per say, it's the constitution. Which requires a whole new level of effort to change. And one I wouldn't support.

The wrong focus on range anxiety?

So that's my problem... I don't have a 2nd EV (or 2nd car at all)! I have had my EV for almost 2 years -- and find the discussion about the time to fill at a gas station vs time spent pluging in WAY overblown. In the big scheme of time spent, the difference doesn't make much of any...

"Check Tire Pressure System, Call Tesla Service"

Hey Gang, I am getting the same error as the OP and wanted suggestions on how to proceed. I just changed my wheels/tires to 20s from previous 21s. I got new TPMS with my wheels and had the whole setup installed at a local shop. The reset option list 19 or 21 -- so not sure I should be using...

    Driving on Sunshine

dhrivnak, Here's some things to consider about site polls: You have 203 people voting, which gives us a 7.1% confidence level (not bad) based on this table ( http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/Soc_participants.shtml ) However, I don't see how this poll has a...

Free Speech and Climate Change Skeptics & Deniers

I have to say, the acertion that the only people who deny or argue against climate change is totally off base (noting that assumption is prevalent amongst comments made in this thread). The conservative base is made up of a strong Christian contengent. And most of that contengent doesn't...

Pics: Model S w/ Lightweight Aftermarket Wheels

I Just had installed (like just today) 245/40R20 on front and 275/35R20 on back -- and have noted rubbing on my driver side front tire when backing up and to the left. Noticed it pulling out of a parking spot, but not out of my driveway. When I do hear it, it's pretty noticeable... So, I will...

Forum Members Unhappy Over Wait for P85D

I totally understand why the OP is upset... His custom car is a "project" and a successful project is "on time, on spec, on budget". I work in the government, so REALLY don't have room to talk... But at the moment, Tesla does a poor job on 2 of them and is questionable on the third (exceeding...

Input requested: Bonnie's Top Ten List / EV Urban Legends

Well... Now, don't take this as a complaint - but am I the only owner who thinks the car does take a long time to charge (of course it's not forever)? Sure, like everyone else here - it doesn't matter 95% of the time. And I haven't had to stop by a gas station for gas in almost a year. But...

Robert.Boston I don't think you analogy works... In the case of tobacco companies, thier actions led to monterary loss by the government(s) (both federal and state) due to payment of health care cost. No such loss has yet been paid for damage to the environment and thus how would you even be...

Another 12v battery bites the dust

I had the 12V battery warning on Saturday... Tesla was out on Sunday to do the replacement . Unfortunately, we noted some cabin heating problems and plug acting flacky (car wouldn't lock the plug when it was inserted). So they are coming to pick it up Friday - 3rd time my car will be...

Nope - no problem with USAA, they aren't involved at all at this point. Please see post #134, I covered why there.

And the day was going so well...

Chickensevil, The actually say car is worth 84K (average number) - but everything else you said about them is spot on. Insurance companies have been known to use a variant of 17c (it refers to a case in GA). Basically, they start off with a fixed percentage for all DV claims. 17c is usually...

And the day was going so well...

 I miss read the report initially... What I thought was their offer was really the charge for the report (why was that there?). My only excuse was I was running a bit over 100 degree fever at the time (actually still am). Now that said, my appraiser came in about 16K while thiers...

LMB, I run Linux all the time. I have my main machinne running Bodhi Linux (distro with Enlightemnet WM and Ubuntu base). The flash drive worked fine in my home system. Files were copied over onto the drive via WinXP running under a VM on said machine. I do plan on doing as you suggested...

Something I didn't know I could do with a USB drive

Not sure about posting this... but here goes (answer to thread title at end): I mostly listen to music off my USB stick(s) and have done so since I got the car. I have noticed some flacky behaviour which was very sporatic in nature. About 3 weeks ago I had a much more significant incident --...

Zwede, I asked and the response was -- you are correct it is a combination of the two. Tesla uses a purpose made 3m bonding adhesive specified by Tesla for their vehicles . They also use self piercing revits (spr) for short along with a Tesla specific rivet gun that only a authorized Tesla...

And the day was going so well...

Before I answer that question, I must note that I had done some research on the topic based on inputs from this very thread. What I discovered is that almost all of the states allow for DV but only if your not at fault and its filed against the other parties insurance. So when I asked, since...

Climate Change / Global Warming Discussion

I have no doubt you are correct with your statements above -- and it's even possible I could do most (not quite all) the work myself. But even if the PV system cost me $0 - I would only make $19,200 in electric savings over 20 years (not counting possible tax breaks). Would a self install be...

Climate Change / Global Warming Discussion

I really wish it was anywhere near that good in my area... as I mentioned earlier, a SolarCity installation would net me 8K savings over 20 years (and that is with tax savings that I may not be able to get). They (ie: SolarCity) estimated that to be a 3% return after 20 years.

And the day was going so well...

So, I went and checked both estimates to see what USAA actually changed -- and the labor rates wasn't it. They changed the hours from 118.4 to 152.4 at 48 per hour. Maybe I missunderstood Jamie when I chatted with him . Is 35+ hours reasonable for hidden damage? Who knows, have to...

And the day was going so well...

Update... Noticed an updated estimate listed USAA's website, so I checked it out (adjuster must have already been out). New estimated total cost of 37K and days for repair moved up to 34 (from 26). Well, not to happy to see this - so I called up Jamie to get the scope. Upward cost was mostly...
