    Lifespan for mobile charger?

My mobile charger just went bad on me. I bought a spare when I got my M3 in Feb 2020, kept one in the trunk for when I’m on the road, and kept the other plugged in to a 14-50 dryer plug in my garage, for charging at home. That’s the one that failed. Is 2-1/2 years a reasonable lifespan for home...

    Console wall thickness?

Has anyone taken apart a Model 3 console and noticed its thickness? Are there interior and exterior layers? Space in between? Single layer? How thick? Asking because I’m considering mounting a magnetic strip on one side. Was thinking of using screws and plastic sealant, but don’t want sharp...

    USB C with Tesla 3 (2019)?

I have a MagSafe charger for my new iPhone, which requires USB C and 20W of power. Would like to use it in my late 2019-early 2020 Model 3. Jeda offers a hub that fits a 2019 M3, and has a USB C port, but when I contacted them they said it didn't produce enough power for a MagSafe. Is there any...

    Washing tips?

Basic questions, I know, but . . . --I have protective film on the front of my M3, and ceramic coating all over. Any tips on the best way to wash these and remove road grime? What kind of detergent? Cloths? Brushes? --Also, what's the best way to clean the rear window without damaging the...

    Troubleshooting a charging problem

Seems to have resolved itself. I let it sit for an hour, then went out to try another reboot (already tried twice), but at first the door wouldn’t open/unlock even though I had my phone key with me. Tried it a couple more times and it unlocked, then (before I could get in) started charging...

    Troubleshooting a charging problem

Just got back from a road trip where I charged using Superchargers and using the portable charger that came with my 2020 3 dual motor. No problems. Got home, plugged my portable charger into my NEMA 10-50 outlet, and it won't charge. Get various error messages. I've tried a DIFFERENT portable...

Wh/mi rate at startup -- calculation or consumption?

When I begin driving my Model 3, the display shows very high power use in Wh/mi -- typically in the range of 500 or so. Once I've been driving for a few minutes, it settles down to a more acceptable rate, under 300 (and under 250 if I'm not at freeway speeds). My question: is that initial figure...

    Autopilot speed reduction—explain?

Okay, can anyone explain what’s going on with my autopilot (2020 Model 3 w FSD, latest updates)? This has happened multiple times, both day and night: I’m driving home at 75 mph on a limited access freeway. Speed limit is 70, and that’s what shows on the GPS display. I’m on autosteer (not...

    Railroad crossing

I was amused at a railroad crossing today (doesn't take much) when the gates went down and the red side-by-side lights OO started flashing. On the Tesla screen they showed up as regular traffic signals. Each time the real-life signal flashed, an image of a 3-light signal with the red light lit...

    Powerwall/Car/Solar Charging Strategy

10.433¢ per kWh Hmm. <grin> Okay, here are actual figures from a recent month’s bill: kWh=545, bill for power only = $54.28. Wouldn’t that make the rate 0.099? Not a math guy.

    Powerwall/Car/Solar Charging Strategy

That makes sense. Thanks. Do you think it matters when I charge the car? For instance, is it optimal to be charging it when my solar system is at its peak? Or does it all balance out?

    Powerwall/Car/Solar Charging Strategy

I've just had a Powerwall and solar installed, and am trying to come up with the optimal way to balance home backup needs with charging my Tesla Model 3. I could use some feedback. Here are the details: -- Solar 5.7kWp system -- Single Powerwall unit, presently set to provide 50% backup power...

Advice needed: Future-proofing my garage for home charging before finishing basement

You might consider just putting in a standard 30 amp dryer plug (NEMA 14-30), which can charge at about 22mph. That's perfectly adequate for overnight charging, and if you sell the house to someone who doesn't have an electric car, they can just plug in a dryer. Or, better yet, try a 50 amp NEMA...

Autosteer problem with "Super Street" U-turn Lane

That's another thing I'm waiting for in addition to FSD: ATD (automatic troll detection) ;) .

Autosteer problem with "Super Street" U-turn Lane

Oh, don’t be so self-righteous and smug. I’ve got a new car: I’m having fun trying it in various situations, and am reporting an interesting result. Having purchased FSD, I’m interested in what Tesla is going to have to overcome to make it succeed someday, and in what the limits of the current...

Autosteer problem with "Super Street" U-turn Lane

I had to do a sudden manual correction when driving through an intersection on Autosteer. It's on a 4-lane "Super Street"-style intersection, in which a signal allows traffic from the other direction to do a U-turn into the opposite lane. But the markings confused Autosteer (see illustration)...

    Will Ppf/clear Bra Void Warranty?

I took my Model 3 to be bra-wrapped and ceramic coated on delivery day, so before I really had a chance to get a feel for how it drove. I told this to the SA and jokingly asked him, "I guess Tesla will still take it back in the first week with that stuff on it if I decide I don't want it after...

    "Certified" PowerWall Installer?

I recently got several proposals for (non-Tesla) solar installation, with a Tesla PowerWall added for critical systems backup. The best price was from a local firm that has gotten good reviews from customers, but is fairly new. The second-place finisher was a Tesla-certified PowerWall Installer...

    Spotify Album / Artist sorting??

I just spent a couple of hours in my new M3 "favorite-ing" dozens of albums on Spotify and "saving" them on the Tesla Spotify app, so I could listen on a long road trip. Got in the car this morning, turned it on, selected Spotify and, you guessed it, the "saved" albums had vanished. Grr.

    240v Extension Cord Question

I bought a heavy 15-foot extension cord to connect my Model 3 (via a Gen 2 mobile connector with a NEMA 10-30R adapter) to my in-laws' old NEMA 10-30R basement dryer plug. It works fine to recharge my car. Here's my question: If I get an adapter like this one (http://www.shorturl.at/ruT39), am I...

[Mistake - Resolved] LR AWD price drops $1300--What would you do?

I ordered a blue LR AWD w 18" aero wheels, have the VIN, have insurance, am paid in full, due to be delivered in 3 days, and now the configurator shows a $56,990 price. I paid $58,290. LR AWD Waiting Room

I’ve got a delivery appointment for my LR scheduled for Sat 2/1, a week from now, but I still only see the reservation number—no VIN. Anything to worry about? My SA gave me a VIN over the phone so I could get insurance, but no change to the account display. I’m paid in full.

    Confused about delivery time

I'm in much the same situation, with mine due to be delivered Feb. 1. I haven't paid the full amount due yet. I haven't seen a VIN number on my account, just a request to pay for the car. But I called my local Tesla sales office, and they looked up my VIN number and gave it to me, so I could get...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

This may already have been answered (I couldn't find it), but what about cars ordered AFTER the boost was announced? I just ordered a LR model yesterday. Will the boost be incorporated in the new car, or will I still have to pay for it extra?
