    Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

    Yes, extremely important that everyone who is able to vote takes the time to do so. Don't just take it for granted that this will automatically be a 'Yes' vote (there are many with a vested interest that would jump at the chance to thwart Elon and Tesla). I am in the same situation and it's...

    I noticed this too. And in the context of other manufacturers, you can see how the sales have jumped over the last couple of weeks: One of these is not like the others.... Edited to add source: eu-evs.com As you say, this is only for the countries that report daily registrations (Spain...

    The economics of Megapacks will depend on the electricity market where the projects are located and will obviously vary by country/region. The Hornsdale Power Reserve in South East Australia (known as the 'Tesla Big Battery') was able to re-coup the cost of construction in a little over 2...

    Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

    As a percentage of the overall auto market, Tesla was only at around 2% market share in 2022 (1.31 million out of a total of 66.1 million) and I think they are well positioned to grow during a recession. Legacy OEMs are more likely to slow their EV growth plans during a recession, cutting back...

    They reason by analogy and not from first principles.... No other company has scaled up manufacturing of a large complex product at a CAGR of over 50% for a decade, so they don't believe Tesla can do it. No other company has sold anywhere near 20 million cars a year, so they don't believe...

    I don't have a margin account. But living in the UK I'm unsure whether my shares can be 'lent' out for shorting. As I understand it, my broker (Hargreaves Lansdown) doesn't hold the shares directly as they are based outside the US and so the shares are packaged in a CDI (CREST Depositary...

    I think that's partly due to unwinding the wave (normally ships don't arrive until the 2nd and 3rd months of the quarter) and also more cars are being produced in Berlin now. For the EU countries that report daily registrations you can clearly see the difference when comparing to previous...

    I agree with the sentiment, but the chart may be slightly misleading in this respect. It compares January '23 sales to December '22. I think it's normal to see lower sales in January than in December. If you compare January '23 to January '22, most of the automakers seem to be up slightly...

    I strongly suspect they're currently setting up a pilot line and ramping that up in order to iron out any kinks in production. By the time the new factory is built they would then be in a position to copy and paste the line and hit the ground running.

    FUD - fear, uncertainty and doubt. Do not underestimate how powerful this stuff can be. The most effective FUD usually contains a few small grains of truth, just enough to give it an air of believability. It is also more effective when you can’t immediately point to evidence to disprove it (or...

    Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

    I sympathise with those who bought shares in the 250s or 300s, especially if that was their first investment in Tesla, but in reality they haven't lost anything unless they sell below those levels. It is the responsibility of each individual investor to make prudent decisions when deciding...

    I have been a Tesla shareholder since 2018 and over the last 4 years this thread has helped me maintain my conviction during many difficult times. By 2020 over 98% of my net worth was invested in TSLA and since then I have continued to add shares whenever I can afford to. I very rarely post...

    Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

    ~~~In-post Moderator response: YES, and I have alluded discussed that seriously - in a jocular way- in a recent post. This post by @rsm287 is NOT worthy of getting a "funny" response; it is a very serious topic, perhaps about a 7 out of 10 ("10" would be 'of immediate existential importance'...
    I think the point is that the experience with road tripping the Taycan is where Tesla was maybe 5 years ago. The other auto makers and charging networks have a long way to go to catch up with where Tesla is now.....and by then Tesla will have moved on a lot from where they are now.
