Not much effort but a few steps; open app - click “controls”- click “trunk” (or “front”) - click confirm. takes about 4-7 seconds all in, so no great hardship but with the fob you would just click the back or front twice I believe.

I think any sensible company would register for the grant on the portal as soon as an order is made, to lock in the grant, especially in the run up to a budget. There’s no downside and it mitigates against adverse developments like this one...
