Reply to my own post. I got a warning a couple of days ago about the 12V battery needing replacement. I scheduled the replacement on the app. 2 days later the tech showed up and replaced the battery in about 20 minutes and performed the rear camera harness recall in the trunk at the same...
Sigh...I'll probably get a new M3P anyway, but I was hoping there would be a range improvement over the previous version. I rarely use mine for travel, but 296 miles is 45 miles less than the LR model and slightly lower than the model it replaced.
The tax rebate is nice, but I likely won't...
Wish TSLA would actually launch the new M3P already. I wonder how much of the current sales challenge is due to folks like me who can't get the product they want? Or maybe a lot of potential buyers are hip to the constant price adjustments and think they'll get a better deal if they just hang...
The only things I'm interested in are:
needs to be at LEAST as quick as the previous model
quieter cabin
improved suspension
I don't like the stalk-less signalling. That's just a stupid idea...kinda like the whole yoke thing. I could care less about the lighting in the cabin. I think it's...
I keep getting these offers to keep FSD, get a free upgrade in paint color and free supercharging for X miles offers if I buy something before the end of the month. However, Tesla still doesn't have a performance variant of the new model 3 available so there's nothing for me to purchase. Even...
Happy to sell you my gently used 2020 M3P with relatively low miles. :)
When I looked around to sell it recently, I was surprised how little consideration is given to the FSD option given that it's now $12k just for that option alone.
Personally, I'm planning to sell older gen M3P now and...
I guess we'll find out eventually. If it's significantly more expensive to upgrade to a performance/ludicrous/whatever, I would expect many of the speed junkies to just make the leap to a model S plaid. Who knows....maybe I'll get over my aversion to a larger car and do that myself. :)
Best,
That would be ideal. Then I could sell my M3P now and drive my extra car until the highland performance variant is released. Tesla doesn't appear to have many M3P's in inventory now so I expect that inventory to be depleted lickety split....especially since they appear to be slightly...
I think it's a nice looking car, but it's larger than I want/need. And even though it wouldn't be financially painful at all to just write a check for a MS Plaid, it just isn't worth (for me) the price delta over the apparently now unavailable M3P. :)
Best,
I don't have many places that I could go 130mph around here. In VA, that's not a ticket....it's a ride to jail and having your car impounded. And then there's the fact that if any of the suspension components go POOF (sure...never happens with the M3...) at that speed and you're lunchmeat...
I like to go fast as much as the next person, but how many people out there do you think would pay the cost delta to get "constant power" from 60-130? I suspect that's a vanishingly small number of consumers with a much larger group of buyers being willing to pay for the neck snapping...
All I know is that I've been ready for quite some time to purchase a replacement for my 2020 M3P, but I have zero intention of doing so until the updated M3P is available. I've thought about just getting an S plaid, but I don't want/need a bigger vehicle.
Best,
Heh. Yes, I believe you're right. I put the jack+pad near the beefiest section of the control arm, not where the "ball joints" are. I have read about issues here, but don't see any evidence of excessive play/wear on mine.
Best,
I use the jack under the front lower control arm to lift up that side of the car. When it's high enough, I put a jack stand under the pad nearest the jack. Then I move to the rear on the same side and jack the rear. Rotate tires. Do the same on the other side.
Best,
Rookie question: How are you all checking to see if your car spontaneously starts up to charge the battery?
I'm right at 48 months on the original battery and wondering if I should change it.
Best,
I have had my M3P for about 4 years now. In that time, I have enjoyed the hell out of it and it has been practically maintenance free other than normal wear items (tires/wipers/etc). I would buy another one in a heartbeat. I think it's worth the premium for the increased acceleration and the...
My 2020 M3P came with the Michelin Pilot Sports and I now have the Falken Azenis. It's hard to judge the noise since the Michelins got pretty loud as they approached the wear bars at about 25K miles. My feeling is that the Falkens are about the same in terms of road noise.
After a few...
I have noticed a hit to the range in sub-freezing weather, but I'd guestimate it at something along the lines of a 15% reduction in range. However, when combined with the original user's stated speed for the trips (around 70mph) I could see that being a bad combination. I do notice a slight...
Interesting. I've only put about 27k miles on mine so far. My maintenance to date after 3 years of ownership:
periodically add washer fluid
rotate the tires approximately every 7-8k miles
(just replaced the Michelins due to wear)
That's all the "routine" stuff. There was one unexpected bit...
I agree. I'd chalk it up to poor training. I have rotated my tires several times myself on my 3P and the TPMS sensors appeared to take it in stride and I didn't notice any delay in the "re-learning" process.
I also just replaced my tires. All 4 tires/wheels were away from the car during the...
There's no such thing. They may have lubricated the caliper slide pins or potentially put some goop on the back surface (not the side that touches the rotors) of the pads. The squealing is caused by lack of significant enough friction to scrape off the thin layer of rust on the rotors that...
Yep. And on resale.....software, unlike the car itself, shouldn't depreciate. You have the software and you are entitled to updates. It doesn't matter if you bought it a year ago or 5 years ago. Assuming that the only limitations would be features related to hardware that didn't exist in the...
An alternative view....I've had my 3P for almost 3 years. FSD is now more than double what I paid so I'm thinking if someone could capture that price difference it would offset some of the depreciation lost on the car (assuming they don't buy FSD at the new price) and you could benefit from the...
Just for grins, I did the online "what's my car worth" with Carvana and got an estimate of $29k. LOL Assuming that's not even close as my buddy just sold his 2 years oldER LR3 FSD with double the mileage mine has for $42k.
So what are people paying for a used Performance 3 with FSD? I've got a 2020 3P with FSD and I've been toying with the idea of selling it and getting a new one. I wanted a newer battery, the updated HVAC, and I just don't use FSD that much so I can survive with Autopilot only. I'm thinking...
Hello all. I haven't posted in quite a while. Wondering if anyone has the scoop on Tesla coming up with something more friendly than pin-2-drive as a mitigation for relay hacks to enter and operate our cars?
Mine is always garaged except when I'm out at a store or something so I'm not THAT...
That's quite a bit of power. We normally use about 1000kwh per month which is about half of what you're using. That's in a 5500sq/ft house (about 15 years old) and 8 tons of heat pump HVAC draw and a family of 4 (5 if you include the Tesla 3...heh). The only real effort I've made to curtail...
And people wonder why there was a net loss of 135,600 folks from California last year. There are PLENTY of other places to live that don't require a 2nd mortgage to pay your electric bill. For reference, here are the states that are in the top 10 and bottom 10 in terms of cost per kwh...
Understand the sentiment, but that's a LOT of $$$ to spend on what (for most people on this list) is likely to be a week or more of power. That's a lot of consecutive cloudy/windless days. :)
Best,
Many cars have no OEM camber adjustment. There are aftermarket parts available at the usual Tesla enthusiast sites which allow caster/camber adjustment in both the front and rear.

Another vote for Hubbell outlet. I'm using one for a 14-50 connection. I have an extra charging cable so that one stays plugged in, even though I used a high quality outlet just in case.
Best,
There is nothing special or revolutionary about the suspension on a Tesla 3. Any alignment shop ought to be able to do the work without any head scratching.
Best,
Perhaps I'm just lucky, but I'm not having any issues with mp3's on my 6 month old Model 3 Performance. I'm using a Samsung T5 1TB USB-C drive. It's working just fine for MP3's and teslacam use. I only have about 7000 mp3's on it. The user interface for consuming USB music leaves a lot to be...
Add that to reasons not to live in Reston (moved myself 20 minutes west to rid myself of HOA scourge). I find it hard to believe that you can be held accountable to new requirements after the install. But then again, an HOA will just use your own money to sue you and then fine you into...
I don't know why some people are interested in skimping here. Unlike most electrical loads in your home, your car is going to draw a significant load for hours at a time. Feel the temperature of that power whip to your car the next time it's been charging for a little while. That circuit is...
The post I replied to was someone charging from a wall outlet, not someone using a wall connector or EVSE. But let's say they have a car capable of consuming 48A and are willing to splurge 1-2k to have a suitable charger installed rather than consuming the cable delivered with the car...
