    What's the latest on All-Seasons for 21"

I swapped my all-season wheels off for my winters this season, and noticed the rears are balding (mostly middle and inwards, the outside looks OK). So it's time to get new tires. 3 years isn't too bad I guess. Time to bring this thread back up and see if there are anything new with tires lately...

    Dog Barrier for Model Y?

The barrier is only good for: 1. Keeping the pup from flying through in event of a head-on collision 2. If stopped by police, I can tell the officer that the dog is secure back there (there's been sad occurances where officers have shot a dog in a car because they were afraid of it, so now I can...

What's your next EV after Tesla?

Probably going with the Rivian R1S in a few years. The extreme sloped hatch in both the Y and X have been a big problem for our needs (large dog), so hoping to get something like an X without the super sloped roof. I get why it's this way, but I'll need something better.

OEM Spoiler coming off on Model Y Performance

I'm on my 4th spoiler. They don't try to re-attach, they just replace with a whole new one. This 4th spoiler actually looks different than the first 3, but I've noticed that it's starting to come off again haha. I believe it has to do with weather. If the car is in some warm weather and outside...

330 Wh/mile average on 1,500 trip with roof box + winter wheels

It'll really depend on the headwinds. I've done 140 miles in pretty bad conditions and still had 20% left. I think you should be alright. Find some kind of plug on the way (if no superchargers, look for other types of chargers).

    What's the latest on All-Seasons for 21"

It's hard to tell about how much space, width-wise there is. But that might be too much. I'm not sure how I can gauge that for you.

OEM Spoiler coming off on Model Y Performance

I'm going into the service center next week to get my spoiler fixed/replaced again. I got my car April 2020, and it's been replaced twice already. Luckily they're still offering a warranty on it I guess, so the fix/replacement will be free.

Model Y Performance Totally Impractical for Snowy Climates?

I have a MYP and I got a set of TSportline TY115 20" with dedicated winter tires. I live in CA where there's no snow around where I live, but I spend 30 days at a time in the mountains where there's snow in the winter. I just throw on my snow setup in December, and make the drive. Even driving...

The 285/40/21 michelin A/S are still being shipped to my tire store, about 1 week later than expected. Hope to get them on by next week and I'll report back.

MYP 21' Michelin Pilot AS4 Sizing

Yes, there were a few threads about people with this exact tire installed. It's only a slight rub when parking, but even then you're going so slowly that there's no wear/tear on it and just a slight smudge on the plastic of the wheel well on the fronts.

MYP 21' Michelin Pilot AS4 Sizing

Would these be better than the 265/40 and 285/40 A/S tires? I was thinking about those to get a little more height/rubber, even though they'll slightly rub when parking.

Anyone know if America's Tire will install tires that aren't OEM? Their website isn't letting me order.

Just ordered them! 265/40ZR-21 285/40ZR-21 Hope to get them on soon. I'm looking forward to not worrying if I need to go through a cold mountain pass on a longer roadtrip and having some more meat to help with the ride comfort. I'm already on MPP comforts, and it's still pretty harsh with the...

Yeah, I drive like a grandma these days (usually bringing my dog everywhere) so I haven't needed to rotate really. Berkeley is good! I've been around here for most of my life, so not much new going on.

    What's the latest on All-Seasons for 21"

Do you know where I can find some threads regarding the 265/40 and 285/40's? I'd love a little more rubber, but want to make sure it's going to fit.

    What's the latest on All-Seasons for 21"

You're right, I've found a bunch of threads but I just haven't found anything definitive, though maybe there isn't. The 265/35/21 and 275/35/21 seem to be a good set. I'll try to look for those locally.

    What's the latest on All-Seasons for 21"

I've found a bunch of threads about all-season tires on the uberturbine 21" wheels, but nothing is conclusive. It doesn't seem like there are any official replacements yet, and people are just getting sizes that are "close" I have a set of winter/snow tires on a set of rims, but I want...

Set rear AC vents on by default?

It's just dumb that there's no setting to just remember to keep the rears on by default. You can get fart noises when you hit the turn signal, but you can't get the rear vents to be default on.

    Thule Roof Cargo Box Size?

I never tried the XXL. I don't have anything that long, and the weight load rating is only about 165 lbs, so I wouldn't stuff that much up there. But... I would say it could fit. You may have to adjust the liftgate, but just a little.

    Dog Barrier for Model Y?

Eventually you need to open "something" to let the dog out, whether it be a gate or door, so you're going to have an issue either way. I just stand behind the hatch and open it while I'm there. I can block/grab the dog if she wants to jump out. Though, having two pups I bet this would be a lot...

    Dog Barrier for Model Y?

No noise for me, though my headrest has always squeeked over bumps even without the barrier attached. A little lubricant works well. But the actual barrier does not rattle or make any noise.

How much to swap out wheels at a shop?

Yes. I swapped my wheels out myself initially (summer -> winter), and just figured since this shop is going to be checking alignment again, I would just pay them to swap the wheels out too. I was guessing like $20 total. All good, I'll just do it myself.

Is the Model Y the best choice if you have a dog?

I have the Tesmanian seat backs + cargo floor. It's not a slip and slide at all. My dog is 80lbs, 40" nose to base of tail, 26" withers, with some really pointy/big ears. We do, however, have a Snoozer Pet SUV dog bed. It's bolstered on three sides and has a lot of cushion. My pup slides a bit...

    Dog Barrier for Model Y?

You need a flathead screwdriver (or better, a small plastic wedge tool) to "unlock" the headrest to a higher level. How much to swap out wheels at a shop?

Normally I just jack the car up and swap out wheels myself (not changing tires off of rims, just changing the entire rim+wheel) for the winter/summer. I am getting my alignment checked after a few weeks driving on the MPP Comfort Coilovers at the local shop, and I asked them if I brought my...

    Thule Roof Cargo Box Size?

My liftgate is not fully open (my garage is kind of short), so I can't confirm it can be fully open without hitting, but it's not even close, you'd have to go more than full vertical to touch the box, so I'm pretty confident this is not an issue. Also note, my box is adjusted as far back on the...

Variocage L+ or XL in a Model Y?

Unfortunately, nothing that my dog would fit in will fit either a Model Y or a Model X. The biggest you can get is a double medium variocage. That's the only guarantee they will give you (if it doesn't fit they will give you a full refund, otherwise that's not an option).

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I think MPP said that anything softer than 14/14 would start feeling floaty/bouncy. Even at 14/14, it's so comfortable, maybe too comfortable. I am considering possibly moving it to 12/12 all around at some point to see how that feels.

Roadtrip at lower charges ended up with faster trip time

I did the same 500+ mile (one way) trip a couple of times this year so far, and my biggest issue was how long it took to charge. I never got 250kw, and was always crawling at less than 80 at the super chargers. It was easily taking an hour or more to charge. After asking around here, the culprit...

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

OK, I just did a bunch of driving around with the settings at 14/14 and wow, what a difference. I'm so happy that my initial feeling that it was just as stiff as before was really because the adjustments were actually pretty stiff. I think 14/14 is really comfortable and I'll probably keep it...

Alright, in about 45 minutes I got it all figured out. Here's how I did my adjustment: Rears: 1. Question: how do I access the top adjustments? I popped off the trim so I can see the intake and small battery, but there seems to be a rubber "hat" over where I think I'm supposed to use the hex tool. Or am I looking in the wrong place? Do I just pull this "hat" off? EDIT: I just yolo'd it and...

    Dog cage in Model Y

I was trying to get a VarioCage into the Model Y, but the largest one that would fit was still too small for my dog. I know the floor of the cargo area is 35.75" wide, 40" deep. I think 27" is lowest point on the liner in the middle, and maybe 25.5" on the extreme sides, but that's over the...
