All Model 3s built since 9/1/2019 have a pedestrian warning speaker installed

Thanks @jjrandorin. Been a while since I've been on the forum. Just holding out a glimmer of hope. Guess I'll just have to be a sneaky ninja, then. 🥷😏

All Model 3s built since 9/1/2019 have a pedestrian warning speaker installed

Does anyone have any update on a potential retrofit of the Pedestrian Warning System on a mid-'19 Model 3? I think mine was built in April or early May '19, and it was right before it was offered as standard. I actually really would like to get this installed. Has anyone been able to...

    Reduced Model 3 SR+ Rang

I have a 2019 SR+. I'm at about 224 miles at 100% and about 195 miles at 90% now. Car has just under 12,000 miles.

Can Acoustic Tire Liner be added?

Thanks for the information. I got a spare tire (without the foam) with a spare wheel. When it comes time to replace them, I'll probably replace them with the OE-spec tires, but for a spare, I just wanted one that would get me far enough down the road to get the tire replaced.

Can Acoustic Tire Liner be added?

I purchased a spare wheel & tire and TPMS so I can have a full-service spare if I ever have a catastrophic flat or severe wheel damage to minimize downtime. The tire is a Michelin Primacy, and as far as I can tell, almost identical to the OEM-spec tires on the SR+ models except that it doesn't...

    Sentry Mode Suggestions

I live in an area that gets frequent morning fog. I've noticed reviewing some of the Sentry Mode footage, that the early morning footage is literally foggy. My suggestion for Sentry mode is that if there's sufficient SoC, that the wipers periodically clear the windshield so the front camera can...

    Sentry Mode Sensitivity?

I'm at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a suburb. We do get a lot of Amazon & UPS deliveries, though, so that could have triggered it. I think going forward, I'm only going to turn it on at night and when I'm going to be away from it for extended periods.

Temporary Charging Solution - 10-30 & Mobile Charger

Rather than spending the $3,000+ to do the 200A panel upgrade, I think as an interim solution, we're going to put a new plug in the garage on the currently unused 30-amp dryer circuit (we have a gas dryer) and utilize the mobile charger with the 10-30 adapter. I plan on doing off-peak charging...

    Sentry Mode Sensitivity?

I've just had Sentry Mode set up for a day recording to USB, and already I have 150 files! I know there are three different camera angles, so realistically, only 50 "events." Even still, this seems like an excessive amount of video files for just one day. Is there any way to adjust the...

Tesla Model Y Not A Crossover, But A Tall Sedan: Says Designer

LOL. Not me. I prefer sleeker styling, even in trucks and SUVs. I think the whole chunky, blocky styling trend in trucks and SUVs is approaching cartoonish levels. But what do I know...

Tesla Model Y Not A Crossover, But A Tall Sedan: Says Designer

To be honest, the Model Y is closer to what I wanted with the Model 3 (which I ended up buying anyway). Mainly for the hatch. Well, I’m hoping when my wife finally gets tired of her ‘13 Escape, we might replace it with a Model Y. :)

    Great Experience

I know there have been a lot of negative stories about ordering and delivery, but I just wanted to say that my experience was great from start to finish. Car was ordered 5/15, and delivered 5/27. Fit and finish appeared good. And the driving experience has been exemplary so far. Costa Mesa...

    Model 3 AWD or SR+?

To each their own. The price of the SR+ was reasonable enough where it made sense for my budget. I work from home, and most of my driving is within a 20-mile radius. Even on longer trips, there are enough superchargers in Southern California that I’m not too worried. If I had unlimited funds, of...

NEMA 14-50 adapter not included anymore

This is a non-issue for me. I have a bunch of USB-Lightning cables around the house, and they’re a commodity item you can get almost anywhere. In terms of the 14-50 adapter, last I checked. It’s like $29.99 through Tesla. Anywhere else, it’s around $80.

How long to get $1,000 deposit back from request?

How long to get $1,000 deposit back from request?

Hi All. Just wondering how long it took those of you that requested your initial $1,000 reservation deposit to get it back? It's been over a month for me, and I've gotten no communication from Tesla on when it might be processed. I recently purchased a new house, and simply don't have the funds...

    Deposit applicable to other/future model?

I recently purchased a new home, something that wasn't on my radar when I put down my initial reservation deposit in 2016. I have been bombarded with emails and calls from Tesla representatives trying to get me into a Model 3, at least for a test drive. I have no doubt I'd love the car, but a...

Do I need a new FasTrak responder?

You can change the plate numbers online. The newer transponders are literally half the size of the old ones, and as stated have the "1-2-3" passenger setting. You can request a postage-paid return mailer. If you don't want to have to go in person to one of their offices, you can do it all...

Munro Tesla 3 Benchmarking Study: 50 internet refrences - what is up?

Yes. This discussion seems a lot more balanced than the prior one focusing on panel gaps, etc. Especially on the electronics front, he seems blown away by the level of sophistication.

Munro Tesla 3 Benchmarking Study: 50 internet refrences - what is up?

The fit & finish is part of the "top hat" which is relatively simple. That can be improved with iteration, quality control, worker familiarity with the assembly process, etc. The core electronics are more of an inherent part of the engineering, which is arguably a bigger deal in the greater...

Watch Autoline this week on Thursday

The first one where they were talking about the panel gaps came across as a bunch of Detroit "homers" trash talking the new kid on the block. This one I think is much more balanced and candid. Sandy on several occasions warns the legacy OEMs to ignore Tesla "at their own peril" especially when...

OH MY DOG, I just got THE invitation!

OH MY DOG, I just got THE invitation!

Forgive me if this is a n00b question. I just got my configuration invite last night. Do you have to pre-qualify for financing, or can you officially place your build order before you arrange financing/payment?

Car and Driver Model 3 Test - Not Great

Re: Bolt vs. Model 3 reviews...I think some of it may be due to a subliminal counter-reaction to the hyperbolic hype that has preceded the Model 3 from Elon and some of the other fanboy sites. For the Bolt on the other hand, I think expectations were pretty low on it, and reviewers were...

Car and Driver Model 3 Test - Not Great

As a possible future Model 3 owner, here are my takeaways and concerns: 1. NVH is disappointing considering there's no ICE in the equation. I know they were trying to keep it lightweight, but I would have expected it to be quieter than its ICE-powered peers. Tire selection can have a...

Car and Driver Model 3 Test - Not Great

Having just left the auto enthusiast publishing field, I don't think it's going to be quite as stark. The last two decades have been a story of "managed decline" and that's a nice way of putting it. I left my previous company after 13 years. In that time, we'd had three corporate name changes...

Car and Driver Model 3 Test - Not Great

I can't speak for C&D personally, but I can tell you the automotive establishment, from Detroit to Stuttgart to Tokyo, looks at Tesla with a combination of curiosity and fear. Their outward hostility and derision I think hide an underlying insecurity about their entire business model. If I had...

    Losing enthusiasm for Model 3

To @Garlan Garner’s point, every automotive sales transaction basically loses money. To me, it makes more sense to just hang on to what you have currently, assuming it’s operating reliably, and buy the Model 3 when it’s ready, rathere than hopping in and out of leases and payments in the interim.

    Losing enthusiasm for Model 3

I’m still inclined to wait, and frankly at this point, if it’s this summer or early fall, that would be fine, as I’m planning on moving into a single-family house soon. I think it would probably make the most sense to postpone delivery until we’re in the new house, and can make the provisions...

    Losing enthusiasm for Model 3

The difference is the Avalanche cost me $6,000 (used) instead of $80,000+. I also now work from home, so I'm not putting that much CO2 into the atmosphere. $70,000+ is a lot of tanks of gas and/or recharges.

    Losing enthusiasm for Model 3

Already have an ICE Chevy beast (Avalanche). Like I said, haven't totally given up, but my level of enthusiasm has gone from, "I can't wait, I can't wait, I want it RIGHT NOW!!" to "Hmm. 3-6 more months? OK, I guess."
  46. igotzzoom

Might order my 3 soon, very begrudgingly.

I agree with you that the LR battery option price is a little steep. I think $5,000-6,000 would be more rational/reasonable.

    Losing enthusiasm for Model 3

Too big? The 3s I’ve seen in person actually look smaller than I expected. The size is “just right” for me, but certainly not what I’d consider a “big” car. Losing enthusiasm for Model 3

With all due respect to the commenters here that say, "If you can't wait, just buy a Model S/X!" Not all of us make mid-high six-figure incomes. Even at around $50,000, the Model 3 would be a big financial sacrifice and by far the most expensive car I've ever bought. Not everyone can just waltz...
