    Ioniq 5 road trip impressions

FWIW- I traded my 2020 Y (sept 2020 build) for a 2024 with all the incentives and FSD transfer option. The 2024 is much more composed wrt NVH than the 2020. I expected some improvement but it seems like everything improved enough that I’m really happy to have made the move. The new Model 3 is...

My first 2 weeks in a Model 3 Highland (RWD UK)

Ahh.... I guess the closest thing we have to that is the chime you can set for when you are going > the speed limit by a set amount. Not the same, but handy. I set mine for 9 and v12 was CONSTANTLY setting it off with that new setting. Went back to the % offset.

My first 2 weeks in a Model 3 Highland (RWD UK)

I realize the 3 is in the foreground in that picture but still- the 3 is larger than the BMW but a fair amount! Somehow I hadn't realized / thought of that. I'm not sure what speed limiter function you're speaking of but you'll probably find something similar in the menus. I have a % speed...

Siri shortcuts not working on Apple Watch (but work on iPhone)

I’ve gotten them to work on the watch (through the phone, I don’t have an LTE watch). In the shortcuts app there is a place to select what goes to the watch. But that’s so they are tappable. But even the ones that aren’t on the watch work when I say ‘Siri- open my trunk’ . I’ve made a shortcut...

    Arizona Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Moderator note: This post plus the following two replies were moved from a different thread. This isn't the place for it, so apologies ahead of time- whatever skills y'all have for digging up permits, please use them to check the Prescott AZ area. I'm thinking we're ripe for a location or 5. I...

Model 3 Refresh: How good is it? | TMC Podcast #59

I don't envy manufacturers when it comes to updating products. Make it TOO much better than the previous gen and you alienate your loyal customers. Make it a 'meh' update and you don't attract new customers because you have the same old stuff. My suspicion is that in the next couple years the...

After 4 long years we finally took delivery of our CyberTruck

Congrats! My first thought was -Ha! All I could think is there’s an alert saying ‘one or more cameras may be occluded’ as it comes out of the bay through the mist :) So how tall are you? I ask because it looks like very few people there are as tall as the truck. Is it comfortable in the...

    Toyota Ammonia Engine

Huh, I thought Toyota was all in with some other company on solid state batteries. I guess they are big enough to do more than one thing at a time. I’m of the mind of - don’t pay attention to announcements of future projects. Or current projects with future pay off. When I see a product with a...

    LUCID AIR-NEW MODEL.. 410 MILES- 79K

Tesla battery longevity not affected by frequent Supercharging, study says

Since those graphs are 3s and Ys (and only total 10,700 not 12,500?) I wonder how much Tesla learned between 2012 and 2017. That is, those bleeding edge Ss may behave differently because of all the different battery chemistries, battery management, etc. Gotta agree with ZenRockGarden, I think...

Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - East Cactus Road

I figured! Every time we go down there there are more SCs and they are all pretty busy. Just looking at them on the App I can see Tempe has had a wait time since it opened (or darn near) For example.

Supercharger - Phoenix, AZ - East Cactus Road

Saw this one on Facebook. The valley can use them, they stay pretty busy! Still waiting on one in Prescott, we just have an EA charger.

Comparison of Mobile Connectors (for those new to Tesla)

FWIW- I've seen reports of owners picking up mobile connectors at service centers. So call or stop by one if you're close. The 14-50 connector I had that crapped out is no longer sold and Tesla replaced it with a hardwired connector, seems that there was a bad batch of them as others here have...

    Supercharger - Goodyear, AZ

There are a couple posts on the AZ Facebook Tesla group of a new SC under construction in the Target parking lot, Mc Dowell and Litchfield roads. Someone posted a Goodyear permit for it as well. Anyone here able to verify it? I don’t see it listed on supercharge.info or being discussed here when...

Nissan to use NACS for 2024 ARIYA

No doubt NACS will soon be 'the' plug here in North America. I wonder how well it will do outside the US, does its adoption here mean it will spread? I guess I'll never need it anywhere else so who cares :) ? Still, for car manufacturers it would be easier if NACS goes world wide. PLEASE tell me...

    Current Arizona Registration Costs

FWIW I've seen warnings about adding someone to the registration triggering that increase as well on the AZ Facebook page. I suspect the tide will change soon to charging EV owners MORE because of the missed revenue on gasoline sales and how heavy our cars are. There isn't any real chatter here...

Cybertruck spotted driving around Portola Valley, looked smaller than I expected

https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/compare?trims=15149-431970_15202-436365_15075-429500 I’m not familiar with too many Pick Ups so I found this site to compare. Can’t speak to the accuracy but it is interesting. The F150 looked bigger to me IRL vs the Rivian, but the Rivian has an inch on it...

Cybertruck spotted driving around Portola Valley, looked smaller than I expected

I felt the same way when I saw my first few Rivians, smaller than I was expecting. It'll prolly be a while before I see a CT here in Prescott :) .

EVgo Announces Plans to Expand NACS Deployments

Prescott AZ doesn’t have a supercharger yet but does have EA chargers with CCS. I’m sure there ar more places like this. I think Show Low or something similar. Just make sure you car is CCS capable!

    Charging an EV in 1911

I believe Tesla sells an adapter for this charger. Even the wheels kinda look like new high perf / low weight rims. What's old is new again. Someone should post this as the new $25k Tesla, throw a 'T' on the hub cover.

Rivian Trip Report with Driver+, Autopilot Competitor

Good to read about an R1S. Thanks for sharing! I see a few R1T Rivian here in AZ but so far no R1S. For whatever reason I have more emotional energy invested in the start up EVs, hoping they come to be part of the new Big 3 or whatever the EV companies are in the near future.

    Supercharger - Glendale, AZ

YES. FWIW- if you have CCS enabled there are 4 EA chargers now at Yavapai College. 2 are 150kw and 2 are 350kw but I think they split when 2 cars use the same pedestal. Also plenty of hotels with chargers. I have an untested CCS adapter just in case I need to ‘top off’ quickly, happy to lend it...

    Supercharger - Glendale, AZ

WRT malls & shopping locations- I know this is SC heresy but I'd prefer slower chargers nearby the malls & such where you are going to stop and eat. Even with the 72kw chargers I have to move my car before dessert :) . Like I last posted- I'm not feeling very sure about this info. I guess...

    Supercharger - Glendale, AZ

Just what the facebook post said, there was a permit # that didn’t show up in the city’s database so I’m leaning towards this being a prank at this point. Here’s the pic posted on the FB page-

There's a post on the AZ Tesla FaceBook page showing a permit and maybe a pic of construction in the Arrowhead area. Anyone here wanna look into it?

Opinion: Tesla should partner with another OEM for NACS or be forced into CCS someday.

Well, once it's a standard it won't change anymore, right? That's kinda the point in making a standard as I understand it.
  32. P

Opinion: Tesla should partner with another OEM for NACS or be forced into CCS someday.

Is Tesla getting fed money for those retrofits? That would be quite the cash cow if they could get paid for each pedestal instal buy throwing a CCS magic dock on them! How crappy are the other charging networks that Tesla can charge people $13/month AND + 10¢/kWH for charging vs what we pay?
  33. P

Opinion: Tesla should partner with another OEM for NACS or be forced into CCS someday.

I don't see anyone forcing Tesla to change the current SC network connectors to CCS, but I can see that being tied to new ones built with federal money. Which is kind of strange if you consider the majority of cars out there have the Tesla connector, why not make them adapt to Tesla? Also- can...

Supercharger - West Palm Beach, FL - 45th St

Supercharge.info is showing this as a 120kW cluster. That would be odd right? I mean, everything else new is 250kW.

PBS Newshour story says EVs cant be driven cross county - while it shows a person charging at a Tesla Supercharger!!

One of the things I would do when being a paid volunteer (there’s a better word for that) at a Guest Drive is - put my old address in NJ into my Model Y’s Nav and show the trip planned out from Flagstaff or Tempe to Titusville NJ. Sure, more stops than a gas car where the occupants have strong...

Tesla FSD Beta is now available for all in North America | TMC Podcast Clip

FWIW I don’t recommend FSD right now either :) . I did get it when it was $8k figuring I bought a lottery ticket that may (hopefully) pay off in the next 5 years. Fingers crossed! This current version is pretty good at a lot of things the last version didn’t do well. Better at getting into turn...

Tesla required me to acknowledge no USS

Tesla should replace the functionality of the USS without putting sensors back. I believe that's the intention. 2022.20.4 is supposed to be the version (for non-FSD) that brings back the lines - Update 2022.40.4 uses vision to mimic ultrasonic sensors
  39. P

Tesla required me to acknowledge no USS

    FSD Beta 10.69 Release Notes

2022 Model Y 4680 Structural Pack is "Amazing", Says Munro & Associates

SR- standard range, that’s what I understood Tesla was calling this model. I pointed out dual motor because there was briefly a SR single motor Y. As for links, here’s a recent one - Tesla Model Y with new 4680 cells shows impressive potential for faster charging ‘potential’ is an important...

Abandoned Model S at Huebner Oaks San Antonio, TX Supercharger

I hope the OP finds out what really happened. There must be something tragic going on for it to sit long enough to get covered like that. I wouldn’t think a new S has been around to look like that already. Just weird. Someone needs to tow it just for its own good!

Model Y Roof Sun Shade Options

Not sure how much it really helps but my screen also has a reflector on top of it. Think it comes with the Tasmanian shade IIRC. So you have the mesh under a separate reflective (ish) silver layer. It doesn’t have much mass, and it makes noise if you drive with the windows down but I suspect it...

NHTSA Data Shows that Tesla has the Least Amount of Recalls

That’s a nice graphic, I’m particularly happy to see a few other cars had OTA fixes. Still, how many more car models are there compared to Tesla’s #? I guess recalls in that time frame could very well be for VW’s or GM cars from 2010 or even earlier? Maybe not so much cars that old, you’d think...

    Current Delivery Times

That must be a problem for Tesla to do this to an innocent party! I wonder how flipping cars (in this sense) reflects poorly on Tesla enough for it to be in the MVPA?

Model Y Roof Sun Shade Options

That's new from when I bought mine. Still, it doesn't look much different from what I have already. I can not see where this wouldn't sag in the middle. One of the reasons I bought what I did when I did was because Tesla didn't have a Model Y shade yet!
