Anyone tried the Realdealev replacement instrument screen?

I'm on my 2nd screen on my P85D, and the 2nd one (I fitted a used example 2 yrs ago) is bubbling. Anyone have experience of the Realdealev units, they offer a reman and a screen without the glass so never have the glue issue again. Anyone tried it, seen one?

Still loving my car however had a couple of repairs this week, the strangest one was the rear passenger door chrome trim fell off the car at some stage recently. Ebay wanted $95 for a used one + shipping. Service center was $111 fitted, honestly some Tesla parts shock me as to how cheap they are...

An update on the front DU seals leaking, the car went into the SC today and they replaced both seals and the RH axle under the DU warranty. I had booked the car in to check the leaks and had asked a few times whether it was covered, if not I would have done the job myself. However they confirmed...

Anyone replace the front DU/axle seals

Thank you for this feedback this is exactly what I was looking for. With regard to your comments on dropping the subframe, would that be your recommendation for removing the front seals? Having removed the frunk tub it seems like there is reasonable access to the RHS (Passenger) in vehicle but a...

As noted by others it’s been bitterly cold here recently and it seems to have taken its toll on my battery, on Saturday I got the “Replace 12v battery soon” or words to that effect. After testing it showed 12.6v which isn’t bad so decided to give it a full charge first before replacing it...

Anyone replace the front DU/axle seals

I had to take the frunk out of my car due to a battery issue, in doing so I noticed that my seals are weeping/leaking. Not keen on paying Tesla $$$ in labor for a $20 part. I’ve done diff seals on other cars and generally it’s an easy job just take time to remove hubs/suspension to get to the...

Latest update to my car, I noticed that the passenger front door handle wasn’t presenting when touched. Pretty obvious why on removing the handle it looks like the vapor barrier had fallen off exposing the wiring, then the window clasp mechanism then basically ripped all the wiring out. I...

You could argue that a Tesla with the extended motor and battery warranty is a better high mile bet than an ICE, as with any car higher miles will mean higher risks of wear on suspension components etc. If the car is priced attractively and has a good history then as long as you factor in a...

Replace the door handle gear paddle today, I didn’t take pics as there are numerous videos to undertake the work. I purchased the paddle off Amazon for $30 shipped, honestly I made the purchase before finding out SC’s sell them. I think the one I purchased is the Tesla part as it’s a machined...

Disappointed to say that the rear drivers door handle stopped presenting itself today, I've ordered a replacement stainless steel gear paddle (the part that fails) off Amazon for $30 shipped. Hopefully its delivered next week and I'll post the repair.

    Preventative eMMC Repair - options

As I have posted elsewhere, last week I booked my car in with the SC and had the daughterboard replaced as a preventative measure for $313. Initially they contacted me and tried to upgrade me to the MCU2, I declined and they went ahead with the work.

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

I know this is a warranty discussion, but thought it worth noting that I had my Tegra daughterboard replaced as a preventative maintenance measure this week for $313. For me its a price worth paying vs it playing on my mind that at any stage it will could fail.

    Desperate for a road trip!

I'm 6 weeks into my P85D ownership and loving the car but I'm gutted that to date I haven't had the need for a road trip that would involve the need to use supercharging, feels like I need to make up a trip just to experience it and tick the box prior to actually having to plan a trip. My car is still in the SC, hopefully get it back early next week. I charged the 100D to 100% out of interest which gave 299 miles which came in use today. After running a bunch of errands totaling around 200 miles, I have to say navigate on autopilot is pretty shite, I don’t think it works very...

Whilst my car is in the SC they have given me a 100D loaner, clearly newer than my 2015 car. Its a very interesting comparison to my car, a few things that spring to mind: 1. Overall doesn't really feel any different to my car other than mine is a lot cleaner inside and out! 2. Wind noise is the...

Tesla Covering Some MCU1 Issues for Some Owners

My car is in next week to get the daughter board replaced as a preventative measure, the SC sent me a txt saying now its under warranty do I want to leave it and wait. I have my car booked in next week to have the Tegra emmc daughter board replaced as a preventative measure as my car is getting to the age where it could be affected. Electrician finished the 240v 40A socket today and I'm surprised how happy 27 miles of charger per hour feels compared to 4 :D The 120v charge never caused me an issue but happy that now no matter what the SOC is I can recharge overnight and ready to go the next day

With the bumper off today I was a little surprised by how dirty the rads were, there was all sorts of trash on mine, from a rusted bolt to shredded pieces of a tire A shop vac and a brush clears it out, with the bumper being so easy to remove I’d advise everyone to clean these out every few...

Tackled another job today, when I purchased the car I noticed one of the front sensors didn’t fit correctly Removing the front bumper was very simple, no need to remove the wheels or wheel liners, 2xM10 bolts under the frunk facia, 2xT25 torx in the wheel well and the around 8 plastic clips...

Good days work today, first was to replace my instrument screen. Managed to add my Valentine V1, used a mirror tap for the first time and I have to say it made it super easy. First remove the cover at the rear of the mirror, remove it by pulling down. Then unused a mirror tap from Amazon, the small blades fitted perfectly into the back or the mirror...

I got the quote back from the electrician to fit a 240v 50A socket, in total he is quoting $1500, the bulk of it is labor to bring the cabling up from the basement and then over of 40ft conduit through the garage to where I need it. I also apparently need a permit/inspection which I didn't...

I refitted my sunroof today with the help of my wife, it’s heavy enough that you couldn’t align it on your own. The RHS lined up and I loosely fitted the screws, then panic struck when the LHS mounts didn’t line up. So it fitted the front bolt and then could move the roof to align the rear...
