2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

The software update definitely helped mine and changed it a bit. Definitely still there though, just not all the time. I can usually coax it to vibrate. Thankfully it is very minor on my car and doesn't bother me much.

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

FYI, as I have reported in the past, the track package didn't solve the vibration on mine and even with my lightweight aftermarket 20"s wheels using non-foam ps4s tires, vibration was still there.

MS Plaid Dragy Testing, Tires, Tire Pressure etc

Graphs seem to show major traction issues down low which is killing your 60ft. How often have you charged your car to 95-100% and let it sit? I've had my car around 2.5 years and I still hit 4s 60-130. In less than ideal conditions, lower 5s are normal. I rarely charge to over 90% unless I'm...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Have you tried the door handle calibration in service mode yourself? Running that automatic calibration fixed an issue with one of my handles in the past where it opened differently than all the others. I was pleasantly surprised it worked.

Anyone bought the track package for a daily driver?

Post a link so we can see pics of brakes to verify they are actual track package brakes and not an aftermarket package. Also in the additional vehicle information page you should see brake package labeled as carbon ceramic. If they show you a pic of the screen in track mode, you'll see "200 MPH"

Acoustic Spectrum Factory 21” T2 PS4S With Foam vs. 20” Track Package PS4S Without Foam

I experienced very little difference comparing the same sets of tires. It's a non issue for me and if I did hear any additional noise, it seemed very dependent on road surfaces.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Yep, much less frequently but still there on occasion.

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

I have track package sizes... ps4s tires 285/35R20 and 305/30R20

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

I experienced a very noticeable improvement in ride quality and handling with the 20s over the 21s but I'm guessing most of that was due to the lightweight forged 20" wheels compared to heavy 21" arachnids. The steering feels way more responsive/light and the ride quality is less harsh. Really...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

In my experience, the non foam ps4s tires on my 20" wheels are not noticeably louder than the foam 21" ps4s tires; however, it very much depends on the road surface. There are certain surfaces where I can hear a bit more noise but it is not crazy loud or anything. It's been a non-issue for me.

Anyone bought the track package for a daily driver?

Absolutely not. Stable as can be all the way to very high speeds.
  13. xEvoLveDx

I'm going to be odering a Plaid S and I'm requesting opinions of anyone who has the track pack ceramic brake upgrade

Do yourself a favor and skip their track package wheels/tires. Get a nice set of lightweight 20" forged wheels and whatever tires you like. I went with non-oem PS 4S tires on 20" wheels in track package sizes and I'm very happy with them so far.

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

I was able to 'coax' a very subtle vibration at 50mph today with on/off light throttle but the very next attempt I couldn't duplicate. Overall my very subtle 40-50mph vibration is 99% gone. I've had several very smooth drives in the past few days.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I've only driven it a couple times so far...no vibration. I wish I could say the new version wasn't still making horrible lane changes (away from navigation) on my morning routes. I think most of it is due to map issues given a lot of newer lanes in my area but it's annoying as hell.
  16. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

5.1 had a few vibration free drives over several days then a few where I did have vibrations. On this new version I haven't felt it once.....yet lol
  17. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I have a 7/21 build car and I haven't noticed it at all in the last few days. Weird how some days I do and others not at all. I'm on 2023.44.30.7 now
  18. xEvoLveDx

    Rear seat headphones?

Lol I was just about to ask you if you had your console replaced. I never did and mine is the original since the lights worked correctly since day 1
  19. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I felt the same for the first three days of driving. Now I've noticed it come back several times but still extremely minor in my car. Today's drive I felt none (dry payment and around freezing temps)
  20. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Dry drive today and I was able to reproduce the vibration. It's still there but it was faint.
  21. xEvoLveDx

    Rear seat headphones?

I think mine was a June 2021 build and I picked it up in August 21. As far as I know the Bluetooth module in our cars is part of the wifi module under the front headliner... Complete pain to get to.
  22. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I guess it could be but I doubt it...felt exactly like the vibration I'm used to and could easily modulate it with accelerator. Does anyone know if the car adjusts torque output/characteristics when the car senses rain? At least the automatic wipers are working again lol
  23. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Update... I felt the vibration this morning while it was raining with lots of standing water on the road. Right around 40-45mph and I was able to modulate it with the pedal. Weird how I couldn't reproduce it the previous three days on dry pavement. Merry Christmas! 😂
  24. xEvoLveDx

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I just got back in from a couple hours of running around town since my last post. I drove on a super smooth road near me where I can normally reproduce the vibration and I didn't even feel a hint of it. I hope it stays gone lol A local friend of mine with a 21 claims his is still vibrating...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I've been driving on it for two days now and haven't noticed the vibration yet. I'll keep trying though. I don't want to call it good just yet.

Anyone bought the track package for a daily driver?

No I didn't get the track package wheels because they are crazy heavy and those tires would be terrible for street driving. I have txl115 20s. They are lightweight and the design shows off the track package brakes very well.
  28. xEvoLveDx

Anyone bought the track package for a daily driver?

I daily drive mine and it is great. I've also had no issues cold braking. They feel perfect and I'm super happy with them.

    Track pack brake pedal pressure

Mine felt more firm at the top of the pedal versus stock. I like the way it feels and definitely don't feel like it takes a lot of effort.

    Track pack brake pedal pressure

Not at all my experience. Pedal feels great on my track package car.

Loud rattling caused by these CCB's pads...

I haven't had any noise either

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I'm guessing us early adopters won't see v12 before the end of the year but I'm hoping we get the holiday update in a few weeks.

20" G-zero (track pack) replacement tires

I'm running the track package sized generic PS 4S on 20s and they are great. Awesome traction but they are a bit louder due to not having the acoustic foam. No big deal though.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

My guess is the fix will be very slight tweaks to front motor output during the affected range under light acceleration and nothing else. Back when I got new half shafts, it did NOT fix the vibration, not even temporarily. I noticed it again within the same day.

    Model S Plaid All-Season Tires?

For my winter setup, I'm really liking the tesla spec goodyear eagle sport a/s tires so far. They are the same size as the PS 4S tire for 21" wheels but ride noticeably softer. I anticipate getting decent mileage out of them. Traction seems fine and I'm looking forward to see how they perform...

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Just the brakes are needed to unlock, not the wheels.
  39. xEvoLveDx

Is this 8.8019 second 1/4 mile run real?

Yes accelerator to the floor. Just do cheetah stance all the way to 'ready' like normal, then just barely lift off the brake a tad, likely slightly less pressure until you start to creep forward.
  40. xEvoLveDx

Is this 8.8019 second 1/4 mile run real?

You can do that by very slightly releasing/modulating the brake pedal after you are in cheetah stance ready. The car will allow you to creep forward while still remaining ready in cheetah stance. It's pretty easy to do but makes some interesting brake noises.

    Retrofit for Steam

Anyone have any game recommendations? FYI there are a number of quality free steam games that play well in the Tesla if you want to give them a try: asphalt 9 legends, apex legends, shatterline, combat master. Counter strike 2 is nice but really needs a keyboard and mouse plugged in as I...

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

More driving on 2023.27.6 today.... vibration is definitely still there although it seems even more minor than I've experienced before. I'm guessing that is due to the more forgiving lightweight 20" wheels and tires I just put on.
  43. xEvoLveDx

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Just another data point - The other day I pulled off my arachnids to replace with lightweight forged 20" wheels. The rear tires on the arachnids had ~8650 miles (they were replaced because I picked up a nail in the previous set). The tires had even wear and the inside edges looked OK with no...

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

In the last 2 days on 2023.27.6 I believe I felt the vibration once but it was extremely subtle and hard to tell for sure. Having said that, on the same day I got the update I also installed my new 20" lightweight forged wheels and new ps 4s tires in track package sizes. It's amazing how...
