Discussion: Tesla Energy / Auto Customer Service

Best I can tell, Tesla has abandoned customer service after the installation. I have now waited 3 months for a simple repair and every time I call, the projected wait time is an hour or more. The call-back option does not work either. Love my Tesla cars but solar is a nightmare once they get...

    Sunrun vs Tesla

I am waiting on Tesla to fix a very minor problem with my system but it is cutting my energy production in half. Tesla says they don't have a crew available to fix it but they have crews out doing new installs. Two people I referred have been installed while I wait for service on my existing...

Tesla voiding warranties over Hawaii PV Program?

For what it's worth, Tesla's warranty is worthless anyway. They may or may not get around to fixing any problems you have and they do so with impunity.

Discussion: Tesla Energy / Auto Customer Service

Solar panels and PW installed last year. In October, 2022, Tesla tech discovered that the junction box on one of our panels is stuck in the "off" position which results in all downstream panels not delivering power so production is cut in half. Repair was scheduled for November 3rd but before...

Anyone else dislike the new UI?

Really disappointed that so much commercial clutter (balloons for businesses) show up when I am trying to navigate somewhere. Makes it very difficult to spot where my car is on the map. I have a destination I want to reach, I don’t need the extraneous BS on the screen - that is fine when just...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I too have issues with the replacement MCU, it is slower than the original and some sites won't even load. Tesla says their diagnostics show no problems so they won't do anything. So I am paying for the MCU2 upgrade which I don't feel is right since their "fix" for the bad MCU1 actually made...

Picking a fight with HOA (CA)

The operative part of the CA Civil Code is 714(d)(1)(B): (a) Any covenant, restriction, or condition contained in any deed, contract, security instrument, or other instrument affecting the transfer or sale of, or any interest in, real property, and any provision of a governing document, as...

    PG&E + EV2-A Rate + Solar + PW and Charging

Thanks for the clarification everyone. My concern is that this restriction means the PW can be at a low SOC in the morning and if the grid goes down, the backup "feature" of the PW is gone.

    PG&E + EV2-A Rate + Solar + PW and Charging

I am on PG&E, have the EV2-A rate, have existing 2.5kW solar and am thinking of adding more solar and a powerwall. My idea is to have the PW for backup and for rate shifting but another thread seemed to indicate that if a PG&E customer has solar and a PW, they must charge the PW only from...

Critical Loads Panel Included in Tesla Quote?

Looking at installing one PW2 and have existing 2.5kw solar system. Tesla's online quote is lower than a quote from an independent installer. Does the Tesla quote include a critical loads panel or would that come as a change order at additional cost?

    Service Scheduling

Tesla service through their centralized app is the worst idea on earth. You can't talk to anyone, when you edit your request they don't read it or don't care. Mobile service tech was here working on one car (M3) and could have fixed a simple problem on our MS but since it was not on the work...

    Info on surrounding traffic

I agree, the blindspot detection and its display is worthless at this stage. All I get is a faint, grey arc on the left when there is a car coming up from behind and it shows up too late to be of any assistance. Even when it does show, the display is not visible enough to get my attention so I...

Traffic aware cruise control - initial set speed?

Could be worse, I recently rented a car in Spain and turned on cruise control - it was actually a speed limiter!

    Model 3 Software Updates

I just got 36.2 but have not checked it out. I REALLY wish they would put time and temp above the speed but I will see (no pun intended) if this update makes time and temp more visible.

    Display Screen

I agree with not being able to see time and temperature over on the left side of the screen, I can't read either one! Please Telsa, this is an easy fix and a safety issue.

Weird Problem with Trip Meters, Energy App

My S with 93,000 miles is doing the same thing, it just keeps track of time. I have reported it several times but no fix so far.

    Charging etiquette for Tesla owners

I know this is an old thread but something happened today I want to share. There are two public level 2 chargers by my work. I commute 40 miles so I plug in for 4 hours and leave. Today both spots were taken (one not charging) so I left a note on each car to give me a call when done. A guy...

Bit by the XPEL bug! How far did you go?

The thing I don't like is the white lines left at the edge of the Xpel after waxing. I don't want to scrub it with a toothbrush because that could abrade the actual paint and I don't want to use any sort of solvent to get rid of the white because that could release the Xpel. How do others deal...

    Water in Tailgate

We finally had some good rain here in SoCal and when I opened the tailgate today, water came pouring out the bottom of the tailgate. Not like when you wash the car and water rests in the groove around the window. The water was, from what I can tell, somewhere on the inside because the bottom...

Every Other Day, Daily or Twice Daily Charging?

Thanks everyone! Regarding plugging in while on vacation, I didn't while we were gone 21 days. HVB got down to probably 30% but when I went to drive the car, I got the 12V battery warning. Can't complain though, 68,000 miles and 33 months on the original 12V.

Every Other Day, Daily or Twice Daily Charging?

I have a 60kWh battery and commute 75 miles round trip daily. There is a new Clipper Creek, 16 amp/10 MPH charger at work and I have been using it. With my range, I could charge every other day, but all charging would be at home, or I can charge every day, either at home or the charger or I...

POLL: Have you had to have your 12V battery replaced?

2013 Model S, 33 months and 67,000 miles. Probably triggered the warning when I left the car unplugged/unused for two weeks. Tesla Santa Barbara sent a Ranger and refurbished a fob at no extra charge. Happy camper here!

    Valentine One radar detector installation

I have my V1 in the frunk and it reads radar okay. Won't get laser because that is a visual signal. I ran the wires in under the door trim to the dash. On-off switch is double stick taped to the top edge of the cubby and I mounted the light and sound unit on a little wood block attached to...

    Xpel - worth it?

I just did the hood, front quarterpanels, fronts of mirrors and trunk ledge at Auto Obsessionz in Oxnard. Good guys and fair price. I protect the sides by not parking in "high risk" spots, although I did that at work (a spot with no cars next to it) and a co-worker backed in to my baby...

    Summer tire reccomendation

We have a MS 60 with 43,000 miles on OEM Goodyears. I have no point of reference for the noise of the Michelins (or any other brands) compared to the Goodyears but I can't imagine the 2X price of the Michelins is really worth it.

    Tesla PowerWall without Solar

Unfortunately (actually fortunately) our PV system is about 12 years old and the SunnyBoy will not provide power during an outage. We are on TOU metering and this time of year we pump back more juice to the grid during partial-peak and peak hours and charge the MS during off-peak. I would not...

    Tesla PowerWall without Solar

Thanks for the analysis - the inverter is what kills this unless you also do solar. We already have solar but I doubt the PowerWall could be linked into our SunnyBoy inverter. It would be great if Tesla did a model with an integrated inverter, a true plug-n-play setup.

Hotel in Monterey CA with EV charger

Reviving old thread - going to Monterey in a few weeks and taking the MS. Staying at the Marriott and see there are chargers at a public garage nearby but the chargers are listed as "1 SP, 1 AVCON and 1 conductive." Anyone know if these will work with a Tesla?

Roll-up leather dog paw and luggage scratch protection for rear bumper

Great idea! We keep an old wool army blanket in the back and flop it over the edge when Karma our Chocolate Lab gets in and out of the car but this looks like a better solution. What are the dimensions of the leather and where did you get it?

How important is the upgraded stereo option?

Welcome to the forum and the world of Tesla. Not sound related, but I notice you did not order supercharger capability. Do you plan on any trips in your Model S? If so, seriously consider SC instead of the upgraded sound.

Long Cargo on the Model S

Well, you put down the rear seats, open the rear hatch and put the gizmo in. See if you have to angle it, whatever. Do not line it up to hit the screen if you have to emergency stop. Another option is to stick it up through the pano roof, or, with my X3, I've had to let long things like pipe...

xpel wrapping vs. periodic maintenance / detailing

MoeMisty was too far from my home so I had my front and other small areas done by Auto Obsessionz in Camarillo, CA. Great guys, great work and the Xpel looks great! Even let me charge the MS while they worked on it!

Has anyone received a replacement 14-50 in the mail?

I just charge at 35w and don't worry about getting a new plug. This is an extraordinary cost for TMC to address a problem that was not created by TMC, it was a homeowner whose wiring wasn't adequate. I wish I could opt out of getting one and save the company a few bucks.
